Early history[edit]

Readers please take note; This addition is wrong. William Coultas was the CO of the Amphibious Scouts--the Scouts had NOTHING to do with Coultas other than taking over the Amphibious Scouts camp at Kalo Kalo, Fergusson Island. The Scouts did not train at Cairns as a unit. Some of the individual Scouts might have trained there with their infantry units, but if so, only the ones from the 1st Cav Div--in other words--the info below here is wrong.
