Cleanup[edit]

I have added a cleanup tag to Al Hidd. Cleanup of this page is needed: an unwanted picture appears; probably a problem with one of the templates. Baronnet (talk) 18:56, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page move not needed[edit]

Why has the page been moved to Al Hadd? I've lived in the country all my life and have never seen Hidd spelled nor pronounced as Hadd. --Droodkin (talk) 15:44, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Al HaddAl Hidd – The correct english name of the city is Al Hidd not Al Hadd (google books). Fayçal.09 (talk) 08:54, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Al Hidd marginally has it in GBooks, but given that Hadd/Hidd is a pronunciation issue causing variation in English, can you say whether Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Arabic has anything to bear on this?NB I have added both spellings to lede, and a hatnote above lede to the turtle beach at Ras al Hadd (رأس الحد) in Oman. Yes of caurse I understand your meaning, linguisticaly we can said Al Hadd, however the official english name of the city is Al Hidd (link exemple). Regards. Fayçal.09 (talk) 09:50, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hm. Google Maps has Hidd too. I'm leaning towards thinking the unilateral move to the current name was unwise. I'll notify the editor who made the move to see if he or she wants to explain. --BDD (talk) 16:43, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hear what the commentator says [1] Al-Hadd vs Shabab Al-Ordon.--Uishaki (talk) 17:41, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The commentator says Al Hidd at 0:33.
  • Support. I'm Bahraini and I've never heard someone calling it Al Hadd. It's definitely Al Hidd. Mohamed CJ (talk) 20:40, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
