Start[edit]

I have created this page in the hope of achieving an informative, balanced, reliably sourced and well cited article on the state of the air transport industry in the UK. At this moment it's a start that outlines what I understand to be the key issues, and goes into a certain amount of detail on some (but not all) of them. There is much work needed to make this a comprehensive and balanced treatment of the subject. --FactotEm 14:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Status - Need to add detail on indirect economic impact (investment, growth sectors, business efficiency and economic growth, per OEF), balanced with counter arguments per FoE. --FactotEm 09:24, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FAC withdrawn[edit]

Subject matter and article rename[edit]

As a result of the unsuccessful FAC attempt I have copied this entire article to Future of air transport in the United Kingdom. The new article will deal specifically with Government policy contained in the Future of Air Transport White Paper. This article will be edited down to a stub intended to cover a more general appraisal of air transport in the UK, from historical beginnings to present day. --FactotEm 10:41, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion needed[edit]

OK. Probably a bit larger than your normal stub, but it lacks a significant amount of information relating to the history of air transport, including pioneering days of air transport, the age of the sea-plane, airport development, war years, the jet age, liberalisation of the markets, privatisations, concorde, airline development and more I'm sure. --FactotEm 12:19, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where does the 236 million passengers figure come from? Worldbank has a figure of only 145 million for 2016 https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/IS.AIR.PSGR?year_low_desc=true --User:Kjwa —Preceding undated comment added 21:45, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

USA map[edit]

Why the need for the map? There are no maps for the ROW? Why is the US so important as a destination? (no intention to offend anyone, just puzzled)--Asteriontalk 22:02, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

doesn't work under linux firefox either -anon —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.79.211.152 (talk) 01:57, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The place names don't even match up on the map, according to the map LAX is in central US. Also it doesn't even include all the destinations, for instance no Dallas. In short just get rid of the map. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matt7272727272 (talkcontribs) 20:07, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry Dallas is included but you can't see it. loads of place names go off the map! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matt7272727272 (talkcontribs) 20:08, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gatwick[edit]

Gatwick Airport is not one of the top 10 busiest airports in the world. This should be deleted from the introduction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.9.184.44 (talk) 09:12, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
