Serbia or Romania?[edit]

Was Ada Kaleh on Serbian or Romanian side of the Danube? Meelosh 01:33, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The island was in middle of the river. After WWI Turkish population there chose Romania as the lesser of two evils, although the island was closer to what is now Serbian side (as it can be seen on the upper picture taken from Serbian road to Đerdap). Tzuppy (talk) 10:33, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Az arany ember[edit]

I am sure Mór Jókai could not have meant this island to be the No Man's Island in his book. Ada Kaleh was located below Orşova, while it is implied several times that the mystical island is somewhere around Ostrovo in Serbia (see http://www.gutenberg.org/files/31409/31409-h/31409-h.htm and search for "ostrov", plus it is in agreement with the chronology of the ship in the book).

As far as I can tell, the Stojkova Ada island, lying exactly next to Ostrovo, agrees with the description much more exactly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sesquideus (talkcontribs) 20:41, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Needs map[edit]

Needs a map to understand its place in the story described.
