Thirupputharrattu of Chengannur Devi Temple[edit]

This festival is unique & unheard of elsewhere. Devi gets periods (may not be every month) & is noticed by the head preist. Then devi is made to shift to another place inside the temple for 5 days. The dress(udayada)with stains are taken away by devottees who has booked it. Then devi will be taken to Pampa river for arattu. this is a major event at Chengannur devi temple.
