Light tank[edit]

I agree @Deathlibrarian. A defining feature of tanks is their mobility. Tracked vehicles have notably better mobility over wheeled ones. A paper from the Federation of American Scientists, The Wheel Versus Track Dilemma, highlights some of the differences between tracked and wheeled vehicles. An article from popular mechanics discusses the terminology over the AMX-10RC in some detail and arrives at the conclusion that it should be called an armored reconnaissance vehicle. Yeah, it's not just a superficial feature, tracks enable the vehicle to cross more difficult terrain, to climb at steeper inclines, and are also more resistant to firepower than tyres. Whereas wheeled vehicles can generally go faster than tracked vehicles. Tracked vehicles are inherently different to wheeled vehicles.In addition, *wikipedia itself defines tanks as having tracks*. I think the article should note that the definition of this vehicle as a tank has been challenged, as many say it is in fact not one. Deathlibrarian (talk) 00:23, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think taking "light tank" out of the info box would be a good start.

Maybe replacing can with has in the sentence "The vehicle can be described as a wheeled tank destroyer or light tank..." would also be beneficial in expressing that while it shouldn't be described as a tank it has been. Primprazed (talk) 18:01, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There was actually a lot of debate about it when they were donated to Ukraine, so I have noted that there was debate about its status, and noted that it classification as a tank is debated, and added references. Both the two sources I found and linked come to the conclusion it is not a tank (which really, it isn't). Deathlibrarian (talk) 00:52, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

38 AMX given to Ukraine[edit]

In a interview, the french senator Philippe Folliot that goes on Ukraine for NATO missions, said that Ukranian force told him they received 38 AMX-10 RCR. Is that enough of a source to clarify the numbers ? Here's the link of the interview, in french.
