Seeding[edit]

Do we know for sure that the seeding structure will work this way in terms of which NY6 gets which seeds? Will the #1 be in the Fiesta and then play in the Orange if they win, or is that still to be decided? Dawginroswell (talk) 12:25, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dawginroswell That's a good question, pinging @Hoof Hearted, who added the bracket template. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 22:05, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find any source that would indicate that those are determined. Without a source on that, I would say we need to reconfigure the bracket so that one can't easily assume that. Dawginroswell (talk) 12:18, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I swear I saw a graphic with the seeds in it, but you're right, I can't find it now. Agreed that without a source, it's best to remove the bowl names. Hoof Hearted (talk) 13:09, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if today's edit to the bracket was all that ideal... Removing the individual Bowl names removed information that is actually confirmed (which Bowl is taking place on which day), while leaving unconfirmed information in place (which seed is going to play in which bracket slot). Zeyes (talk) 00:02, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Zeyes Now that I'm looking, I'm not sure that dates/locations are confirmed for any of the matchups; we know that there will be one quarterfinal on the 31st and 3 on the 1st but I don't think we know which of the four quarterfinals will be the one played first. Might it be best to remove the dates from the bracket for now as well? PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 02:55, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Right, that's what I meant. We know what dates/times the Bowls are scheduled for, but AFAIK not which seed pairings are gonna be assigned to play in each of them. The question in my mind is: Should the dates and Bowl names be removed from the bracket display, or should it rather be the seed placeholders that are removed? Zeyes (talk) 06:29, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with @Zeyes. We know which bowls are on which days (and therefore which bowls are quarterfinal and semifinal games for 24-25), We should incorporate that info into the grid somewhow. https://collegefootballplayoff.com/sports/2018/8/31/cfp-games-schedule.aspx Dawginroswell (talk) 16:19, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dawginroswell That seems like a good solution. When I have some time I will add some prose about the bowl games and campus site games and the format, so long as nobody has beaten me to it. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 18:47, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Updated the article to reflect this update. We need to probably update the infobox template as well to allow for quarter final games (and 1st round?). Let's see who authored that originally --- OH, it's @pcn02pws! Dawginroswell (talk) 15:55, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dawginroswell I also need to add support for twelve teams, instead of just four - I can get to that today. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 16:06, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
