Notes on candidates[edit]

  1. This is not the place for entire bios and former posts. At least, not in the present form of the article (which follows the model of previous elections).
  2. I understand the order to be followed is: a) order of nominations, and b) when made by the same national group (necessarily at the same time), the order chosen by the national group.
  3. Finally, both the fact that the Brazilian national group nominated two candidates and that one of them has denounced that the is unable to advance his campaign because of the "express determination" of Jair Bolsonaro, "for ideological reasons and in retaliation to positions defended by me in articles and interviews" are both highly unusual. Since Casella's note with these comments was included in this article, I felt important to contextualise it. The note is way harsher than my own reconstruction (discussing matters of democracy, coup d'état, and the role of law). I am not sure these clarifications should be included. Maybe the article should simply list the candidates. Otherwise, the whole saga might merit a special subsection of the article, explaining the particularities of the highly unusual circumstances that have led Brazil to have two candidates. Casella is still a candidate.
