Rwanda v Malawi[edit]

Can you please list the Malawi par score (138 at 16.5 overs) when rain stopped play? Anthonylopresti1 (talk) 05:41, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The DLS par scores aren't usually listen in the match summaries here; those who want to know can calculate from the result (Malawi scored 97 and lost by 41 runs, so the par score was 97+41=138) মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 12:37, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Mashfi - Just makes it more obvious though in a similar way to if they were set a revised target under DLS Anthonylopresti1 (talk) 22:08, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If a revised target is set and then successfully or unsuccessfully chased, we mention what they were chasing. If play is stopped and the result is decided on a par score, we just say by how much a team won/lost - the par is then obvious (there was no "target" if play doesn't resume). Teams[edit]

Will Zimbabwe participate in regional qualifiers? Xareefwiki (talk) 06:28, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They'll be in the regional final, for which they qualified directly because of participating in the preceding World Cup. মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 12:35, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Points table[edit]

What are the criteria for the points table? Currently Kenya and Rwanda are both on 10 points but cricinfo has Rwanda ahead even though Kenya has a better net run rate. Does it go to total matches won before NRR? Anthonylopresti1 (talk) 04:21, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry only just saw this. I thought it was NRR (it usually is), but apparently in ICC events it is number of wins first, then NRR (didn't matter in the end!) Bs1jac (talk) 10:51, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NRR[edit]

@Mashfi23: Any chance you could have a go at working out the correct NRR for SL and TAN after day one? Cricinfo and Cricclubs are very different, and I got a different number again when calculating it myself! The Sierra Leone inning lasted 11 and a half overs (but was a full 20 overs schedule); Tanzania reached their target in 7.2 overs (of 15 allocated). I assume something alters the equation somehow, but can't figure it out. Bs1jac (talk) 15:06, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac: ESPNcricinfo is obviously incorrect there due to not considering the DLS-adjusted total, so I'm not sure what to compare the calculation I did with (haven't yet checked CricClubs). What did you get, if you don't mind me asking? মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 15:08, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mashfi23: Ah yes, I saw Cricinfo had the correct number of overs for each inning (20 and 15), but didn't notice that they still had the original target (despite showing the reduced overs). I am getting (47/7.3333333) - (57/20) = 3.559. Bs1jac (talk) 15:15, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cricclubs table shows Sierra Leone scoring 46 from 15. Didn't realise that you took the par score and overs from the already completed innings. Bs1jac (talk) 15:19, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: I'm getting 3.2 (47*6/45 - 46*6/90). Took 46 as the DLS-adjusted total in 15 overs (90 balls). I see that you used 7.33333, which should be 7.5 if I'm not wrong (Tanzania played 7 and a half overs). মাশ্‌ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 15:55, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah... yes Cricinfo have added a dot ball. My main problem though was I didn't realise you had to use the par score and overs for the first innings, and not the actual score. Bs1jac (talk) 16:24, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of National Team First Matches[edit]

Is the playing of a national team's first international match notable enough to warrant a point in the notes section of a match? The description in the template simply says 'Any other notes about the match other than toss and delays in play' , which in my eyes would suggest the inclusion of a line such as 'Saint Helena played their first ever T20I'. Jfews (talk) 17:08, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I would think this would be a fairly notable thing. We usually notate when players play their make their International Debut for a type of match, I would imagine Saying "This was Saint Helena's first ever T20I match" is notable. It would need a news article source though. Sputink (talk) 23:35, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Saint Helena played their debut T20I match" would be more encyclopedic. 𝓥𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷24𝓑𝓲𝓸 (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 01:54, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Saint Helena played their debut T20I match" is much more sensible than listing all 11 players as making their T20I debut like we currently do. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:14, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Points Table[edit]

Adding the qualification spots to the points table is a necessity to show that those are the spots that will qualify. This is a fairly standard across Wikipedia. Edit: Example shown here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_%E2%80%93_AFC_second_round where the information is already listed despite only two games having been played. Please do not revert it anymore @Pkr206 Basetornado (talk) 12:58, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, The qualification spots are usually displayed on points Table across ICC events. See 2023 Cricket World Cup, 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup etc. 𝓥𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷24𝓑𝓲𝓸 (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 06:02, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with this. Please stop removing it. Jack234567 (talk) 06:18, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of First win against a Test Side[edit]

Just as we have noted that teams or players have had their first match. I believe that it is fair to note that Uganda won their first match against a Test nation. This is a fairly notable event. I have added this to the Uganda game including a source. Basetornado (talk) 13:02, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
