Independence Cup is a dab page. It is highly confusion title when 2016 Independence Cup and 2018 Independence Cup is about football, while there is potential more articles, such as Independence Cup (Albania) (2017 Independence Cup (Albania)), Lesotho Independence Cup (2017 Lesotho Independence Cup). None of them make the cricket edition be the primary topic. I also suggested once above move was excised, turn 2017 Independence Cup to a disambiguation page.

  • Oppose None of the other articles actually exist, and even if they did, there would be a strong case that this international competition would be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:19, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It existed now. Also, 2017 Independence Cup (cricket) is an one-off event, you did not provide any source to prove the cricket event is the primary topic of 2017 Independence Cup. While Lesotho newspaper had shown they call their event as "Independence Cup". Since Independence Cup is a disambiguation page, it should not make an excuse for an one-off event. Matthew hk (talk) 19:30, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This is still the primary topic over the stubs you've just created. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:11, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Much like terms such as "World Championship" or "National Championship, "Independence Cup" is clearly ambiguous, and so is every "Year Independence Cup" by extension. This one specifically is ambiguous with existing articles 2017 Independence Cup (Albania) and 2017 Lesotho Independence Cup. For WP:CONSISTENCY we should disambiguate all such competitions and redirect all "Year Independence Cup" pages to the Independence Cup page. We can't have various sports vying for primary over each year. -- Netoholic @ 20:49, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Relisting note: Matthew hk, if you haven't done so already, it's probably an idea to notify the folks at WP:CRIC too. SITH (talk) 11:50, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure their system, but the RM was displayed in the box of Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/Article alerts. Matthew hk (talk) 13:27, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom and Netoholic. If the base name is a disambiguation name, then "YEAR base-name" cannot be a primary topic and should be disambiguated by the type of the event. --Gonnym (talk) 16:39, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's been almost a month. This looks moot unless someone creates a dab page that might go at the base title. Dekimasuよ! 17:15, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And I've been bold and moved the cricket article. Time to close this, as it's dragged on for a bit. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:11, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Lugnuts, does that mean you are fine with the disambiguation page being at the plain title? Dekimasuよ! 21:52, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that's fine too - sorry, should have stated that! Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:28, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
