Shirt numbers[edit]

Players such as Bebé, Mukhtar and César still hold their shirt numbers at Benfica, unless other players use any of those numbers. SLBedit (talk) 18:41, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do not add unsourced information. Put a ref about those players numbers. Bebé, César and Mukhtar did not play in Benfica last season. So add a source about those numbers. Stop that childish and disrespectful behavior! P3DRO (talk) 15:54, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's not the point. Before they were loaned they had their shirt numbers and those numbers weren't used by any other Benfica player while they were on loan. So, those numbers belonged to them. Stop repeating yourself. You are the one acting childish. SLBedit (talk) 16:26, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That does not matter, if they were loaned they did not wear those numbers. Why do you always want to do the last edit? Whay do you have that childish behaviour? You are adding unsourced information. Where are you ref about those players numbers?P3DRO (talk) 17:10, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you edit warring? Why do you edit quickly? Why are you always repeating yourself? You are adding unsourced content. Where are you sources proving that they lost their numbers while they were on loan? SLBedit (talk) 17:13, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
See this page. The players that returned from loan and left the club don't have numbers. See Cáceres our Hleb.P3DRO (talk) 17:10, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Using other articles as examples does not work. SLBedit (talk) 17:13, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Relevant discussion at WT:FOOTY. SLBedit (talk) 17:44, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@P3DRO: Why not remove the numbers only when players from first-team or B-team get to use those same numbers this season? SLBedit (talk) 18:52, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because it makes no sense. Players like Gaitán or Andrade, who played last season with those numbers it's alright. Players like Bebé it's just absurd and makes no sense. Why would Bebé "vacate" the 32 shirt if he didn0t play with it?

Stop reverting my work. You do not have always the reason. Your reverting on the SL Benfica Juniors concerning Renato Sanches were just childish. P3DRO (talk) 19:00, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why doesn't it make sense? According to a discussion at WT:FOOTY (which I linked above) players do not lose their numbers just because they are on loan. Because no other Benfica player wore the number 32. You also revert other people's "work". No one is always right. Renato Sanches was still junior and a Benfica player, until 30 June 2016 – ask anyone at WT:FOOTY. Stop accusing me of acting "childish", you are acting like a broken record. You also called me "kid". Stop the name calling, okay? Be WP:CIVIL. SLBedit (talk) 19:07, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Renato Sanches could no longer play any game for Benfica Juniors. And that was a fact. He was still in contract with Benfica but he was sold to Bayern, the season had ended, we all knew he would no longer play in Benfica Juniors. Your stubbornness was just you acting childish and wanting to have the last word. That kind of behaviour is just sad...

Players do lose their numbers on loan. Marçal was the number 3 on Benfica and was loaned. Grimaldo came and earned the number 3 shirt. That's a proof. No one played with the 32, but that includes Bebé. Bebé was not a Benfica player for the 2015-16 season, he was on loan. Benfica did not have the 32 shirt assigned. You could consider it if he had been in this pre-season but he wasn't. It makes no sense that Bebé leaves with the 32 shirt. P3DRO (talk) 19:20, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point but I do not agree. Let's seek a third opinion on this matter. SLBedit (talk) 19:23, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You could have done that a long time ago, instead of trying to make some point that you're the boss on stuff related with SL Benfica and your non stop revertings. Ask Always Learning, he's a experient user. P3DRO (talk) 19:34, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You reverted more than me, like a boss. Yes, I know him. SLBedit (talk) 19:36, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Besteirense and The Replicator: What do you think about this discussion concerning the shirt numbers of Tiago, César and Mukhtar? I thinks they should be removed immediately since it's misleading information. P3DRO (talk) 01:18, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Besteirense and P3DRO: Either remove the numbers entirely or, as a compromise, put them inside brackets and insert a note stressing that those were the shirt numbers they used last time they played for Benfica. The Replicator (talk) 01:30, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Readded the numbers with italics. SLBedit (talk) 18:25, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@P3DRO: Will you discuss instead of continuing your edit war? SLBedit (talk) 17:29, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop. SLBedit (talk) 20:41, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

B-team players that never played for the first-team[edit]

Why add reserve team players to this article if they never played for the first team or are not part of the current team? This article about the first-team. A season article for the B-team can be created. SLBedit (talk) 18:56, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin was bought to play in the first team. He was loaned like Jhon Murillo. That is the same case. Friesenbichler did not, I repeat, DID NOT, play for Benfica B. He his a Benfica player who is on loan, not a Benfica B player. He is different from Harramiz or Hildeberto. P3DRO (talk) 19:03, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
According to his article (and its sources) "On 22 May 2014, Friesenbichler signed a four-year deal with Portuguese champions Benfica on a free transfer. On 26 July 2014, he scored his first goal for Benfica B on his debut in a friendly match win (4–3) against Ajax II." Where does it say he was part of the first-team? Of course that is Benfica who loan B-team players (this was also discussed). He hasn't played any official match for Benfica. So, you can readd that if you want, but please do not remove the shirt numbers again until there's consensus here or at WT:FOOTY. SLBedit (talk) 19:14, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved Kevin Friesenbichler loan to the first-team page. SLBedit (talk) 19:28, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
He played a friendly but refused to play for Benfica B. He was loaned to Legia on the same season. It's the same case as Luís Filipe or Jhon Murillo. They also did not play any match for Benfica.

I will not revert the numbers because I'm tired of your selfishness, childish behaviour and your self-righteousness. But respect my work and DO NOT revert my edits when you have doubts. That revert on Reinildo not being promoted from Benfica B was just stupid, just to show that you revert and do what you want. And do not lie again about my sources only to report me, that is sad... Respect other users, grow up, believe in good faith edits, and don't think you're always right. P3DRO (talk) 19:31, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Prove that I lied. You are too agressive, kiddo. Chill out. SLBedit (talk) 19:35, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You reverted my Technical staff update with reliable source from zerozero. Then you reported me stating that I do not put references. You are a liar my little attention attractor. I'm chilled, I just don't like your childish behaviour, and your self-pretentious attitude. By the way, why didn't you answer the Reinildo part? Don't you agree that it was just stupid? Reverting something that you did not know just to make your edit count +1 it's just childish. Grow up kid! P3DRO (talk) 21:04, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Civility#Avoiding incivility: "Avoid condescension. No matter how frustrated you are, do not tell people to "grow up" or include any language along the lines of "if this were kindergarten" in your messages." SLBedit (talk) 22:30, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What about your edit on Reinildo, the fact that you lied only to report me and your obsession with your edit count? Why do you avoided those in your answer? P3DRO (talk) 03:15, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Shirt names[edit]

@P3DRO, Besteirense, and The Replicator: Benfica's official website displays "Zivkovic" as Andrija Živković's shirt name, but in reality his shirt name shows "Zivković". Do you agree with this change although unsourced? If you do, please change it. (I don't want to be accused of being the "last editor".) SLBedit (talk) 19:58, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@P3DRO, Besteirense, and SLBedit: Zivkovic. Better ignore both diacritics than ignoring one and using the other. The Replicator (talk) 20:04, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, use both or neither one. P3DRO (talk) 20:53, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Benfica's website is run by amateurs, so we can't take for granted the info posted there. I've seen the use of 'Živkovic' and 'Zivkovic'. Also, today, someone wrote "Mucktar" instead of Mukhtar, in a news article about 4 players who have been loaned out. Unbelievable...Besteirense (talk) 21:02, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. Anyway, it was printed "Zivković" in his shirt name. SLBedit (talk) 21:58, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If it was "Marcelo Hermes", Liga Portugal website would show exactly that, not "M. Hermes". SLBedit (talk) 03:58, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sidnei[edit]

@Besteirense: Why is the source "incorrect"? SLBedit (talk) 20:19, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Check out these sources: Llega cedido procedente del Sport Lisboa e Benfica; O atleta brasileiro continuará assim a jogar na Liga espanhola, uma das mais competitivas do Mundo.; O defesa tem contrato com o Benfica até 2016 e pode assim terminar a sua ligação sem regressar ao plantel encarnado.; Mendes y el Benfica deciden sobre el fichaje de Sidnei. SLBedit (talk) 20:25, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This source states that Deportivo paid Benfica €6.5 million for Sidnei. Is that it? SLBedit (talk) 20:30, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
According to this official document http://web3.cmvm.pt/sdi/emitentes/docs/fsd150611.pdf, Sidnei wasn't listed in the loaned section in page 77. I don't know when was he transferred, but by 14 April 2016, he was no longer under contract with Benfica. Besteirense (talk) 09:08, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disciplinary record[edit]

The references in this section are redundant; every yellow or red card is already sourced in the respective match report. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Besteirense (talkcontribs) 15:13, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sources are never redundant. It's easier to check yellow/red cards using the sources I added. SLBedit (talk) 22:50, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have to disagree with the first sentence; it's a waste of wikipaper. And if someone wants to check the disciplinary record, the table provides that information, so there's no need to double check it elsewhere. Besteirense (talk) 23:16, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You should try to use that argument at WT:FOOTY. SLBedit (talk) 23:30, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Now the only content missing sources is clean sheets. SLBedit (talk) 23:00, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Soccerway provides assists and disciplinary record (assists in Taça de Portugal are missing). It says Mitroglou assisted Cervi's goal against Dynamo. [1] SLBedit (talk) 00:42, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Report links[edit]

I have removed report links for the upcoming league matches except the one for the next Benfica match of the season. My idea was to add a report link only for the next match. Should we leave it or remove it? I don't think it's beneficial to add report links for every single match in the future. SLBedit (talk) 23:02, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have also started a discussion at WT:FOOTY. SLBedit (talk) 23:24, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you think it's not beneficial? And what difference does it make, since that information is going to be posted later? Reverting that it's just silly. By the way, I didn't "add the report links for every single match in the future", I add the ones related to the matches who already have a date and time schedule.Besteirense (talk) 21:28, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's more bytes added to the article, which will be edited many times before those matches are played, this means links can be added later. But if there's consensus here, then I suggest to add all official links available at the moment, or leave it like it is now. Problem solved. SLBedit (talk) 00:04, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, you added Liga Portugal links incorrectly. We should use the website's English version and keep "www" in the link. SLBedit (talk) 00:12, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your explanation doesn't make any sense. If that was the case, then you should erase all info about Primeira League matches who haven't been played (as of today, Rounds 18 to 34), like in Watford's page, and then add the info that's already there when the matches have ended. About the other paragraph, I will take that into account next time I add the links.Besteirense (talk) 00:58, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Read it again, you might understand it. SLBedit (talk) 18:31, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
