Article title[edit]

this Russian website states that the aircraft was operated by Asia Airways. Once a flight number is known, the article should be moved to a suitable title (Asia Airways Flight [number]). Mjroots (talk) 11:55, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to have been leased from Asia Airways, a Tajik cargo airline, but the operator is the South Sudanese logistic company. In fact, on October 18, 2015 they posted two pictures of the aircraft in their livery, matching registration number, on their Facebook page. --Mareklug talk 14:41, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Number of victims[edit]

The number of people on the plane, and the number of deaths, varies widely in media reporting. We will need to keep an eye on this, and update when they get the number of casualties sorted out. Thanks! Juneau Mike (talk) 13:48, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah yes, an ever recurring issue with mass media reports of all kinds. I am continuously amazed (and disappointed) of how bad journalists handle numbers. If the wide ranging numbers are caused by uncertainty, then a decent professional journalist should of course state first thing, that the numbers are uncertain, and also - if possible - inform on the range of that uncertainty. Simple professional tasks, but so rare unfortunately. It's good that you pointed it out and documented this (never ending) issue here. Thanks. RhinoMind (talk) 18:55, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Were all the casualties on the plane, or were there some on the ground? Biscuittin (talk) 12:58, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
18 passengers, 6 crew membres, 42 killed? How come? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.173.252.135 (talk) 16:54, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shortly after the crash, the crash site was secured by security personnel as the search for the plane's black boxes began. A presidential spokesman later said that the plane wasn't in a very decent condition to fly as it was revealed that the plane had issue after undergone some technical check that should have included work on extending its resources and exploitation timeframe. Antonov official also claimed that the aircraft operating the flight was also not airworthy.[1]
