Military fugures by the BBC quote that 450 Comorian troops have landed on Anjouan, with an additional AU force of 1,500 including Sudanese and Tanzanian troops. I Think the figures should be changed until further information is available.

France[edit]

According to this item (http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5jnlBDE3zgOEtfeXmIdpRdmy7w7KA), cited in the article, France is also providing logistical support for the AU and Comoros. Aas such they should be listed in the chart like Libya. 141.166.157.190 (talk) 18:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

do it :) --TheFEARgod (Ч) 19:24, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how 141.166.152.165 (talk) 22:24, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I figured it out 141.166.152.165 (talk) 22:26, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The US provided support too, yet the text does not mention it. Coincidence? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.94.8.211 (talk) 22:23, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Are Sudan, Senegal, & Libya actually participating?[edit]

The article only says that these countries offered assistance, not that they are assisting. If they aren't involved in the present operation, they should be removed from the list of belligerents. 141.166.230.9 (talk) 03:45, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disregard the above, I have seen the updated news stories. 141.166.154.255 (talk) 02:59, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invasion??[edit]

Why is it called invasion? This operation is not like a country invading another country, but a country fighting with its rebel region with the assistance of an international organization. I think the use of "invasion" should be refrained. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiturk (talkcontribs) 20:48, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invasion = "An invasion is a military action consisting of armed forces of one geopolitical entity entering territory controlled by another such entity, generally with the objective of either conquering territory, altering the established government, or a combination thereof." This op clearly meets this definition. Anjouan was controlled by the rebels, who were a de facto political entity. 141.166.241.20 (talk) 22:07, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

However: the wording rebels should IMO avoided here. --213.155.231.26 (talk) 10:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why, Bacar was outlawed by the government, took control of the island, and toyed with the idea of declaring independence. That seems sufficient to say that he was rebelling against the Comoran government and that hence he was a rebel. 141.166.154.255 (talk) 02:58, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page merge[edit]

Oppose merge for now. At this point, let's see how this thing plays out over the next week or two, and if nothing much happens, then we should merge '2008 invasion of Anjouan' into the general Anjouan page. However, if things get messy (more resistance, etc), then it could be a separate article, depending on what takes place. We'll know very soon though. Cheers! --RobNS 02:47, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should not be merged under any circumstances. It's a military operation, and we ALWAYS have separate articles for those. —Nightstallion 10:29, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
who asked merge?? I put a tag to Anjouan in order to merge info from Anjouan#African_Union_invasion_of_Anjouan into HERE.--TheFEARgod (Ч) 12:36, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's what this is about -- yes, THAT should happen. —Nightstallion 15:10, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Nightstallion - no merge, now or ever. RIVA02906 (talk) 05:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why merge? otherwise the page will be longer than most which have been marked as too long —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.13.35.7 (talk) 05:17, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mohamed Bacar travestite or Trans-sexual?[edit]

"Mohamed Bacar has been spotted in the village of Sadanpoini (...) it seems, according to various sources, that he is dressed as a woman ” —Abdourahim Said Bacar, Comoran Government Spokesman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.196.150.157 (talk) 11:48, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I think he did it just to escape. FFMG (talk) 12:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Flag African Union.svg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Flag African Union.svg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
