Title[edit]

At this time the title is just a translation from the German Wikipedia, however, the event involves other countries, not only Germany and Liechtenstein. Thus Sen Levin announced a probe in the USA (see article). We may have to find another title here. Ekem (talk) 13:19, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The tax affair is widening to many other countries. How about changing the title to: 2008 Liechtenstein tax affair?Ekem (talk) 12:56, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was just about to propose the same step. Done. —Nightstallion 13:07, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How about 'Liechtenstein whistle blower affair'? 121.209.48.195 (talk) 01:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Prosecutions[edit]

The number of prosecutions is not high for what the disk would have contained. The reason might be one aspect which the article does not address: In German law the statute of limitations for tax prosecutions and 'retrieving' funds was/is 10 years. So if Kieber's disk was from 2002/2003, it must have contained events from before that. It does not say that newer data were supplied. Oddly, the BND seems to have archived it between 2003 and 2006?

In now 2009, the tax office can not prosecute events from 1999 and before! Is there a particular tactic to slow down the authorities to avoid prosecutions? Did the political parties and their web of suborganisations have trusts in Liechtenstein? They certainly had them in Geneva, Switzerland, where CDU accounts with 'donations' were discovered by prosecutor Bertossa. This former German believes to detect the usual delaying tactic until grass has grown over it (POV). Had the Germans been serious about nabbing them, and more importantly. retrieve ill-gotten gains, they would have acted post haste and extended the statute of limitations. But the business and political classes seem (POV) so intertwined that one looks like protecting the other.

The only way to get Germans to act is pressure from the international level. 121.209.48.195 (talk) 02:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
