B Classification is premature[edit]

I am surprised this article is considered a B class article by both the Death and United States WikiProjects, given its current state. I would possibly rate it a C class article if it included a mention about all 15 student hostages as victims of a kidnapping, and not just the 2 people who were shot and killed. Other questions I have include: How were Police alerted? Which Police force responded? What category of officer was on the scene? What negotiations were there, if any? How did the shooter obtain the weapon from its storage place at home? Was the weapon secured at home? What do the state firearms law require for people possessing firearms? What did the school rules require? Is it legal to bring firearms to school? Did the school have any security staff to prevent bringing firearms to school or detect the weapons that were brought to school? What actions did the school undertake to safeguard other students in other classrooms (lockdown, evacuation, no action, etc.)? Why would the students think the shooting was a Drama Club activity? Why 22 kidnapping charges? and many many more. This article's coverage is far from being complete. I realise many of my questions might not be easily answerable, but the fact none of them are covered means the article is does not meet the complete or accurate criteria and should not really be ranked as B class. Additionally, there are several poor citations that are either naked URLs or poorly described references about their content or when they were accessed. Basic stuff that would fail the citation and references requirements. There is not even a picture of East Carter High School, not the Courthouse nor a map of Grayson, nor of Carter County, nor even a picture of a revolver, so it would fail on the supporting materials criterion, too. So I have ranked it as Start class. With a little clean-up it would be a C class article and with a bit more coverage it has the prospects of becoming a B class article, but I think it is premature to rate it such at the moment. If you feel I am being too harsh, please explain your reasoning and educate me. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:38, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
