"Old Days" is a single by American rapper Lil Durk. The song was released under label Alamo Records on February 23, 2024, as the lead single from Durk's ninth upcoming studio album, Love Songs 4 the Streets 3. In the song, Durk opens up on how he and rapper King Von were into drug addiction. The song features subliminal disses towards his homies who took him for granted when he was broke.[2]

Background[edit]

The song was first previewed online on January 26, 2024, when Lil Durk snippeted the song on his social media pages.[3] Few days later, on February 17, 2024, Durk revealed when the song would drop, and also, he posted a snippet of the song's music video on the 20th of February 2024. The song was officially released on February 23, 2024.[4][5]

Composition[edit]

The song features "a hi-hat, piano-led beat, sad and soulful lyrics", and finds Lil Durk "reflecting on his life struggles, drug addiction, and also talked about how the street is getting tougher.[6][7][8] Durk also references the death of rapper King Von, Durk lyrics says "The autopsy of Von body had me coughin' up my vomit", whom he pays tribute to.[9]

Critical reception[edit]

Rap-Up's Malcolm Trapp deemed it an "iconic" song. He also noted the video for being "an emotional charged glimpse into the rapper's world with sorrow, disappointment and betrayal".[10]

Music video[edit]

The accompanying music video was directed by Jerry Productions, and sees Lil Durk with an unidentified man.[11][12] Six days after the release, it accumulated more than 4 million views on YouTube.[13]
