Hot Wheels Let's Race is an American animated children's television series based on the Hot Wheels toy line by Mattel. It was released on Netflix on March 4, 2024.[1]

Premise[edit]

Six young hopefuls at the Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage Racing Camp learn the skills they need to become the next generation of amazing racers.

  • Jakari Fraser as Cooper "Coop", a young boy who dreams of becoming a top racer. His signature color is blue.
  • Amari McCoy as Spark, an African-American girl with an inventive streak who believes in scientific methods. Her signature color is yellow.
  • Griffen Campbell as Mac, a boy in a baseball cap and aspiring stunt driver. His signature color is green.
  • Risa Mei as Brights, a young girl with a robotic prosthetic arm, who enjoys taking photographs and looking through stories. Her signature color is pink.
  • Josh Keaton as Axle Spoiler, a brash young teen and the son of champion Striker Spoiler, who aims to prove he has the family's racing legacy. His signature color is red.
  • Charlie Schlatter as Sidecar, a short teen with a mop top (he can always see even with the hair over his eyes) and Axle's sidekick. His signature color is black.
  • Grey DeLisle-Griffin as Dash Wheeler, a former champion racer and the racing camp's prime instructor.

"Racing to Success"

A Wheel Good Time: On the first day of Racing Camp at the Ultimate Garage. Coop accidentally knocked Dash’s Twin Mill tire and is bouncing around Hot Wheels City. It up to Coop, Spark and Mac to gear up and get that tire.

Racing to Success: On their first Racing Camp Grand Champ, the racing will get through three stages in order to win this race and earn flame badges.

Scream Machines: On the racers first night at camp. Brights tells a scary story about the Bone Shaker that came to life, seeking the Hot Wheels 500 trophy around Hot Wheels City it thinks it should’ve won, after it broke down and lost before winning the Hot Wheels 500. She thinks it real but Spark thinks it just a story, or is it?

Takeout Spinout: It the Food Delivery Challenge, as racers drive the tracks with food themed vehicles. But when Coop’s Street Wiener get stuck with Axle’s Donut Drifter, they have to work together in order to win the challenge.

Keeping the Pace: Coop got his hands full when he helps Spark with her high tech car lift and Mac stunt for the stunt show on the same day. So he grabs the RocketFire to be fast enough to be two places at once.

Car Wash Catastrophe: When a mad scientist named Professor Rearview brings a giant octopus to destroy the Ultimate Car Wash. It up to the racers to stop Rearview and save the car wash, as Spark learns that failure can always become a later success.

Night Fright: Hot Wheels City has a blackout and Mac is afraid of the dark. It up to the racers to start up the generator and help Mac conquerors his fear with the Glow Racers cars.

Scavenger Stunt Hunt: The racers next challenge is a Scavenger Stunt Hunt. When Coop gets team up with Sidecar, he thinks that he would make him lose this challenge flame badge.

Spoiler Warning: Axle’s dad Striker Spoiler teaches the racers how to use boosters on the tracks. When Striker sees how impressed Coop handles the boosters, Axle becomes jealous and show his dad he's the best.

Victory Lapse: It the second Racing Camp Grand Champ. Since Coop is in the lead, he has some advantage boosters to help him win this race.

Getting the Jump: In order to win the Jump challenge, Coop copies Mac since he's good at stunt jumps. But copying Mac isn’t easy as it looks.

Trashed Tracks: The racers have to clean up the crash pad before they can get some ice cream sundaes. But things get worse when their trash ends up the track builder and creates trash all over the tracks.

Pizza with Extra Venom: While having pizza at Bright’s Uncle Larry Pizza Parlour. Professor Rearview calls in a orders of 500 pizzas. But what the racers didn’t expect was the pizzas were for Rearview’s giant snivelling pet, a giant cobra.

Shifting Gears: It time for Capture the Flag in cars and Mac plans to roll with it to win this challenge for his team.

Pedal to the Meddle: Dash is working on a car transporter. Then, after being inspired from a real live Tyrannosaurus rex from a video in her tablet, Spark adds some adjustments without asking and made into the Ultimate T-Rex Transporter. Things were going well until Spark accidentally puts the Transporter into self-driving mode and eating every car in the city.

Follow the Lead Car: Time for the Follow the Leader challenge, as Axle prepares to lead to get ahead on the competition.

Eyes on the Prize: The racers are up for an obstacle course challenge. But Coop was more focused on the last obstacle, the Sky High Jump and he ignores the other obstacles in the course.

Photo Finish: While looking at Bright photos from this year’s Racing Camp on her phone. Coop, Spark and Mac accidentally deleted the photos and try to retake the photos before the slideshow later that day.

In It to Win It: Racing Camp is almost at its end, but it finishing of the Racing Camp Grand Prix. The racers will gear up and win this race, until with an unexpected beast shows up.

Fired Up!: Professor Rearview shows up with his dragon just as the racers reach the finish line and is planning to destroy the Ultimate Garage. Can the racers stop Professor Rearview, his dragon and win the race?

Production[edit]

On September 28, 2023, Netflix announced the greenlight of the series, alongside an order for additional episodes of Gabby's Dollhouse and a trailer for its first Cocomelon original series. The vice president of Netflix series animation, John Derderian, also claimed the series offers an exciting, character-forward way into a new social emotional curriculum through public domain characters like The Wizard of Oz that parents and kids are familiar with.[3]

Animation is provided by Sprite Animation Studios and OLM, Digital.
