Early life and career[edit]

Inspired by the local actress Waleedha Waleed and influenced by the Bollywood films, Adam had a dream of pursuing a career in the Maldivian Film Industry since she was six years old.[1] Prior to acting, she served as the production manager for Ilyas Waheed's psychological thriller Bavathi (2019).[1]

In 2021, Adam made her career debut with Ilyas Waheed's crime anthology web series Mazloom, where she played the domestically abused wife of a crime investigation officer in the third segment of the series titled Minju.[2] Ahmed Rasheed from MuniAvas in particular praised the performance of Adam for her strong screen presence and "incredible" acting ability; "she has pulled off two different side of the character to perfection".[3][4] She continued to work with Ilyas Waheed for his horror thriller anthology web series Biruveri Vaahaka in a reverse role, as Saamiya, a dominant wife who domestically abuses her incapable husband.[5] This was followed by her appearance in Mohamed Shifuan's Fandu, which explores the devastating effects of abuse, guilt, and strained dynamics as the characters navigate a path filled with shattered trust, emotional turmoil, and attempts at redemption.[6] In the series she played the role of Shabana, a domestically abused housewife who passes it down to her husband's niece.[7]

In 2023, Adam collaborated with Ilyas Waheed for his dark comedy film Free Delivery (2023), where she portrayed the character of Sana, a restaurant waiter compelled to embark on a delivery trip that ultimately makes her a witness to a crime.[8][9] The film received mainly positive reviews from critics. Aminath Luba, reviewing from The Press lauded Adam's performance as a newcomer and singled out her "near-perfect" acting as one of the highlights among the cast.[10]
