Miss Universe Cambodia (Khmer: បវរកញ្ញាចក្រវាលកម្ពុជា។) is an annual female beauty pageant in Cambodia, founded in 2019 by Cambodia Models Agency chaired by a Filipino businessperson in Cambodia Romyr Libo-On[1] , the finalists of the contest have been sent to participate in various international contests including its parent stage, Miss Universe. In 2020, The pageant patent was transferred to a Phnom Penh-based event organizer managed by Sophin In, Mohahang Production.[2]
In the present, Miss Universe Cambodia has been managed by managing director of Mohahang Production, Sophin In.
During 2019, the competition was aired on CTN, but later changed to Bayon TV in 2020.
Since the establishment of Miss Universe, to date, Cambodian representatives have never won the contest.
Background[edit]
History[edit]
The Miss Universe Cambodia pageant was the same as Miss Cambodia from 2017 to 2018, but they created a new pageant called Miss Universe Cambodia under the same organisation from 2019. Miss Cambodia redirected their priority to Miss International from 2021. There was a Miss Cambodia in 2020 but that was for Miss World. Miss Universe Cambodia was a separate pageant under the Cambodia Models Agency (the same organisation who owned Miss Cambodia) from 2019 to 2022.[3][4][5][6] In 2023 however, the Cambodia Models Agency had to give away their license to another company due to the agency sending other women to international pageants other than Miss Universe.[2] Because of this, the Mohahang Production company (past owner of Miss Grand Cambodia from 2020 to 2022, and current owner of Miss Supranational Cambodia) was granted the license of Miss Universe Cambodia from 2023.

Selection of contestants[edit]
Under the management of Cambodia Models Agency, the national aspirants for its first four editions were directly chosen by the central organizer based in Phnom Penh.[8] However, after the pageant license was transferred to another organizer, Mohahang Production in 2023, an attempt to distribute to the provincial organs has been observed ever since. Moreover, Cambodian overseas, such as Khmer Krom, Khmer Loeu, French-Cambodians, etc., have been allowed to participate in the contest with independent sash title since 2023 nevertheless, most of the candidates were still directly selected and appointed the provincial titles by the national organizer due to a lacking of regional licensees.
