I don't see the point of the category either, because at least two lesbian riot girl bands I looked up do not have their songs linked, and many of their songs are feminist related. I know, I know, there are probably other riot girl band songs on here, but come on, The Butchies are quite prominent!Shakesomeaction (talk) 08:35, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You should add them if they have articles. But half the songs in this category should be deleted from here, they are just the usual breakup songs (I don't know where did the editor who categorised them get the idea that non-feminists never break up). "Control", for example, isn't about women, it's about a young person taking control of her life. Gender is irrelevant, many guys relate to it too. "Irreplaceable" basically says that Beyoncé's dating guys that she can replace "in a minute", I don't know what's feminist about having low standards and so shallow emotions that she can get over a relationship "in a minute" (though she doesn't seem like this type, I wonder who writes her lyrics). "No Scrubs" has the message "if you don't have money don't approach me". Pretty gold-diggerish to me, although the song itself is very good. "Womanizer" has nothing to do with feminism either. I agree with the other commenters. I don't want to recommend this category for deletion because feminist music is important, but dude, not every song about a breakup is feminist. How about Upgrade U by Beyonce? That is a very feminist song, she's talking about how basically the woman in the relationship is just as important as the man, she lets him take the lead role by choice, and that he depends on her just as much as she on him. A list of Feminist/Feminazi songs would be inexhaustible, as it's at least 80% of pop music since 1997. But this is a very interesting list, and should be expanded to acknowledge that trend. The classic man-hating song, "No Scrubs" by TLC, is surprisingly not on this list yet. It should probably be added, as the identical song, also written by misandrist Kandi Burruss called 'Bills Bills Bills', is rightly on the list.

We could add the entirety of Lily Allen's discography, as well as Beyonce Knowles 'Put a Ring On It', 'If I was a Boy'...most of her songs too. Pink, most of her songs, some of which are also written by the misandrist Kandi Burruss. And Arctic Monkeys 'When The Sun Goes Down'. An old example would be 'Hey Big Spender'. Also Madonna's 'Material Girl', and the song that inspired it, Marilyn Monroe's 'Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend'.

These are just to name a few, the actual number of Feminist songs in pop music is hard to guess. The easiest way to work out that number is to count the total number of hit singles released since 1997, and subtract the ones that do not have feminist lyrics.

Breakup Songs are generally man-hating, and that is the affect they have in society. But they wouldn't necessarily be *overtly* feminist, as somebody pointed out, unless they were intended to apply to the majority of men. This is where, for example, Taylor Swift is a gray area. She talks about a specific guy, not necessarily 'guys', but she does it often enough, in several songs, to render her anti-male.
