American aviation historians - notable category[edit]

Added this category because it is a highly specialized subset of the category "American historians," and because it is extremely important to American history, because aviation is a fundamental force in history-shaping modern American affairs -- including American exploration, commerce, transportation, and war, and in many major American developments in science and technology.

American aviation historians are typically quite distinct from American historians at large, who tend to be generalists, focused on political and social subtopics of history. By comparison, American aviation historians are distinguished, typically, by their exceptional attention to technological developments, the business and industry aspects of the field, and the history subset of war (specifically: aerial warfare), while typically disregarding the broader contexts of American social and political developments (except as pertains to aviation-intense specific wars).

American aviation historians generally hold, and share, a far greater knowledge of the specifics of their field than do American historians at large, and thus are a very distinct subset of American historians, and specialize (usually exclusively) in this important and dynamic branch of American history.
