Excessive use of category[edit]

This category has been included in many articles which have little to do with Al Hirt. Just because he recorded a song does not justify including this category in an article. I suggest it be removed from most of the articles that unjustifiably include it.

The similar situation occurs for Template:Al Hirt

An observation: If we include the category for every artist that every recorded a song, many song articles would include twenty or thirty categories--Foobarnix (talk) 02:22, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The song should at least be somewhat defining to the artist who performed it. A multitude of artists have released "cover albums" in which they record 12 or so songs from another era or those that inspired them and it would not be practical to categorize the songs by each of these performers under their "songs by artist" category. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars^{Talk to me} 18:41, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
