Articles in this container category[edit]

There are 63 articles in this category, which is designated as a container category, a category of subcategories, in which the inclusion of articles is deprecated. It appears that the population of articles into this category is a side effect of a category upmerge. There had been a category, Category: African-American women judges, which was discussed in April 2014, with the decision to upmerge those articles into three parent categories, Category: African-American judges, Category: American women judges, and Category: African-American women. However, the third category is a container category, so that the upmerging had the deprecated effect of moving articles into a container category. Where should we go from here? Over a year later, there are even more articles, probably because not everyone looks at category scope notes, and because preventing individual women from being categorized here is non-intuitive. I'm removing the note, which clearly doesn't reflect reality. --BDD (talk) 17:47, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
