Alisha Weir (born 26 September 2009) is an Irish actress and singer. She began her career in theatre. She is best known for her roles as Matilda Wormwood in the film Matilda the Musical (2022), and title role in the horror film Abigail (2024).

Early life[edit]

Alisha Weir was born in Dublin, Ireland, on 26 September 2009, and grew up in the South Dublin suburb of Knocklyon.[1] She attended Our Lady's School.[2] Her two older sisters took drama classes, which Weir joined when she was old enough.[3]

Career[edit]

When the musical Once returned to Dublin's Olympia Theatre in 2017, Weir played Ivanka. She also performed a rendition of the Justin Timberlake song "True Colors" on The Late Late Toy Show.[4] She made her feature film debut in the 2018 thriller Don't Leave Home and her television debut as Laura in the 2019 crime drama Darklands.[5] She appeared in Tony Finnegan's productions of Annie, The Wizard of Oz, and Oliver! at the National Concert Hall.[citation needed]

Weir was eleven when she was cast as the titular Matilda Wormwood in the film adaptation of Matilda the Musical for Netflix,[4] and thirteen by the film's premiere in Christmas 2022. Weir plays the lead role in the 2024 horror film Abigail, released on April 19, 2024.[6]
