CHU/U[edit]

Should I of just actioned the original request? - FlightTime (open channel) 22:05, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't handled a usurpation so I'm hesitant to offer you an opinion. In general folks only come to renaming once or twice in their wiki-careers so there's limited value in forcing them to do it "right". On the other hand I'm reluctant to appear as a "deus ex machina" and rename a user without a visible trail. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cabayi, 84.92.55.233 is reinserting copyright content into that article and edit warring to keep it in. Can you help? Thanks. Nobody (talk) 09:21, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1AmNobody24, I've just circled back and revdelled some of the copyvio I missed earlier. There's still a bunch of WP:ELNO, {{cn}}, and a large unsourced list that (imo) need attention. Feel free to let me know if the tools are needed there again. Cabayi (talk) 13:54, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Cabayi for the quick work. I'm currently trying to understand why there's a Nick Jordan (artist) and a Jacob Cartwright and Nick Jordan article, but not sure if your tools are needed for that. Nobody (talk) 13:46, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Username change and page moves[edit]

Hello, Cabayi,

You did some username changes and page moves for Svenskbygderna earlier today but somehow we ended up with User:Svenskbygderna which is indicated on my Quarry query as a nonexistent editor page. Was this page supposed to be moved as well? It's very confusing as this editor has changed their username several times and some of their user pages redirect to user pages for inactive accounts they previously used. I'm not sure where this one is supposed to go. Thanks for any help you can provide straightening this one out. Liz Read! Talk! 21:15, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's a mess because Petermgrund has gone back to a username they used previously. Page moves couldn't happen because pages already existed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Renaming back from Petermgrund to Svenskbygderna may result in userpages on other projects being incorrectly moved. I don't see a clean fix that I can do as a global renamer. I think Peter needs to visit the user pages of each of their accounts, ensure that they point to the correct end point, and have local admins fix any problems. - Cabayi (talk) 15:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello all,
Thank you for the message. Yes, I acknowledge that I made a mess of things going back and forth with username changes (and losing a password). I think the best thing to do is what you suggested; revisit all of the user pages for my previous usernames and make sure they point to Petermgrund.
One quick question. Can you clarify what issues may require a local admin to fix? I want to avoid causing you/me/others a headache. Thanks for your patience... Petermgrund (talk) 16:38, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Petermgrund I'm starting to give myself a nosebleed thinking of the possibilities. So long as the userpages let folks know they're all you, all should be well. Cabayi (talk) 17:28, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

SPI request[edit]

Hi Cabayi, sorry for bugging you. After seeing your comment at Talk:Goya Menor, I'm hoping you could please take a look at this SPI [1] I opened a few days ago. The creator of that promotional article has pinged me twice on wiki and their suspected sock contacted me offwiki, all aggressively asking for NPP reviews. I would love to be patient and wait my turn in the SPI queue, but this is verging on harassment. I would really appreciate your help. Toadspike [Talk] 14:08, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Toadspike, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Draykaay. Cabayi (talk) 17:18, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! I should've checked if a case had already been opened. Toadspike [Talk] 17:42, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Toadspike, I'm not discounting the possibility that behaviorally it can be shown that they are all Oneboygreen. I've only probed the Draykaay connection as far as CU tools (and my poor skills with them) will let me. Cabayi (talk) 17:54, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Jordan (artist) edit[edit]

Hello, I removed the COI template after checking content for neutrality etc., which you've re-added. Please could you recheck and inform of any issues with content on talk page? Or steps needed to remove the template. Many thanks for any help or advice. 194.74.185.34 (talk) 11:32, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you are Nick Jordan who has a history of editing the article about himself. I believe, and the COI policy states, you lack the objectivity to judge the article. There is no problem under policy with you starting a discussion on the article's talk page, but your continued interference and self-promotion is contrary to Wikipedia's neutrality policy. Cabayi (talk) 13:53, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reply Cabayi. I'm not the subject of article, but was trying to help fix any flagged issues on their behalf. User @Jorbert30 has decalared COI on their userpage, and I understand their previous edits were an attempt to update dead links on citation references and reduce the content of article, but were rejected as copyright infringement/vandalism. Hence they tried repeatedly to fix the issue and were apparently blocked for a short period. Should either Jorbert30 or myself start subject on article's talk page and request clean up to resolve any issue? I believe the article meets neutrality guidelines, and all the citations appear legit. Many thanks for your time and any help. 194.74.185.34 (talk) 14:40, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) I agree with Cabayi that the article has issues with neutrality, and the sourcing is dodgy. Example: Jordan's work has been shown widely at international galleries, museums and film festivals. The word 'widely' a relative, subjective term, which is effectively WP:PUFFERY - it should be omitted. The source supporting that assertion is a piece written by the subject about himself on the website of an art project he's a member of. That is a primary, self-published source, and is entirely inappropriate for an assertion of that nature. If the rest of the article is anything like that sentence, it needs substantial pruning, and the tag is more than warranted. Girth Summit (blether) 14:51, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback Girth Summit. If you're able to prune and edit anything that constitutes puffery or self-published source that would be much appreciated. Or should I put request on talk page. I'll have to look up code on how to do that, as this is all a new area to me! Any help by you or other editors appreciated. 194.74.185.34 (talk) 15:02, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
