Don't forget the Air Force! The RCAF and Air Command won many unique Battle Honours, such as Fortress Europe and Gulf & Kuwait (the last one was also awarded to HMCS Athabaskan) User:Sbmcmull

Hmmmm - can we clean up & turn into article? Bridesmill 02:16, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why not. It could also use as much linkifying as possible.Mike McGregor (Can) 04:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've started linkifying. Problem is sometimes trying to figure out which battle is which (when there's two or more battles of the same name in the same year - like the Somme 1918), or sometimes where to link for battles too "small" to have an article or those too broad to have only one. But I found a nice resource which seems to break down the wars into major campaigns, the campaigns into battles, the battles into engagements, etc. I'm doing it rather piecemeal, between homework and classes.

There's a Canadian Forces publication that listed all the battle honours, and it also listed, I believe, what unit bears that particular honour (e.g. under "Mont-Pepy-le-Pieux (1917)" it would have, say, the Royal Saskatoon Ploughjockeys and the Irish Light Fusilier Highland Dragoon Guards (M.G.)). It only listed extant units as I recall. Reason I asked is that the battle honour The Great War is listed, but not permitted to be perpetuated. Does any current Cdn regt have this as a battle honour? Sorry for the delay, I got sidetracked by school and some other irons I have in the fire. I'll try to get some more done by the weekend. SigPig 06:06, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
