Not done: It then wouldn't match with what was on main page on 6 January 2009. This is essentially an archive page, so should be inviolate. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:31, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

These pages are retained for the benefit of those who wish to read them, not as a means of preserving the precise material that appeared on the main page (which often varies throughout the day and exists in the revision history).

However, File:Burnet 2jpg.jpg is the image that appeared on the main page. I inserted a temporary cropped version. Such files are routinely deleted when no longer on the main page, at which point our standard procedure is to revert to the normal version (which the deleter neglected to do). —David Levy 16:11, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
