So, another service for those who can't keep up with a written discussion?[edit]

I can't "do" verbal crap like this, especially with my slow connections; and the text version apparently is Windows-only. Why do we keep trying to Facebook ourselves up? IRC is bad enough operating behind the scenes and inspiring paranoia; but at least there's a text record. Is anybody gonna create a transcript for those who cannot follow what went on in Mumble, or are we going to have endless disputes over whether somebody said "delete" or "delight" or "deplete" an article? --Orange Mike | Talk 22:32, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As with any other off-wiki communication channel, users are responsible for their own on-wiki actions, and if they want a record to be made of a request they should ask it to be made on-wiki. IRC has many channels that forbid public logging, including #wikipedia-en, which is analogous. I maintain that social interaction facilitates collaboration and is good for Wikipedia. Also, Mumble is designed to use very little bandwidth, and the text chat works fine in Linux - I've used it! Dcoetzee 02:18, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Since the Mumble channel is historical[edit]

When was it in use? That is, from about which year to which year was it in use? Any stats on how much it was used? (Heck, any stats on usage for the IRC & Discord channels?) -- llywrch (talk) 05:49, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Anecdotally I can tell that I was using it in 2012, perhaps in 2013 too. --Base (talk) 21:43, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
