The Ur-Quan are a fictional race of predatory alien caterpillars in the Star Control series of video games, created by Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford. The first Star Control game introduces the Ur-Quan as a galactic empire seeking to enslave Earth. Their story is expanded in Star Control II, revealing them as former slaves who since vowed to fiercely defend themselves. Reiche and Ford developed the Ur-Quan based on the concepts for unique spaceships in Star Control; their insectoid appearance was inspired by a National Geographic photo of a caterpillar. Their role in Star Control II has earned them acclaim as being among the best game villains of all time, praised for their menacing persona, as well as their surprising depth and humanity. Apologies for jumping in the middle of this discussion, but I'd recommend removing the image parameter completely to avoid any confusion. A bot likely removed it as non-free media cannot be featured on the main page. Aoba47 (talk) 21:41, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the response. For this image, I am uncertain. You are correct that it is tagged as fair use media, but I am still uncertain if it could be useable for a TFA blurb. I know very little about image (as that is my main weak point on Wikipedia) so I would recommend asking an editor is better versed in this matter. Aoba47 (talk) 02:50, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a blind spot for me too. The game is released as open source, and the image is released under creative commons, so it's completely usable under that license. I just don't really understand how to deal with Wikipedia's automatic bots. Ideally it would be great to use this image, but if it's going to be an issue, we can just remove it. Setting this fictional character up to be featured on February 17. The date is sort of an in-game wink between the character and its co-designer – the game starts on that date, and Paul Reiche was born on that date. Shooterwalker (talk) 17:13, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
