Template:Social titles[edit]

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the template below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was keep. Primefac (talk) 00:40, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:Social titles with Template:Personal names.
Mere taxonomic assumption. There seems to be space enough to keep this together in one template. Chicbyaccident (talk) 23:56, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose There doesn't seem to be any reason for merging two templates on different things just because they are vaguely related. A name is not a title, and a title is not a name. Robminchin (talk) 00:50, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose merge - personal names != social titles. I think {{social titles}} should be expanded to include non-English language social titles, if there are any that have articles. cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 15:48, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Template:WikiProject Logic[edit]

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the template below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was delete. To answer the question posed regarding "why not redirect", it was answered in the subsequent post; Logic is a subproject, not a WikiProject proper, and so to imply that it is one is incorrect. When a WikiProject gets converted into a subproject/task force there is no need to keep the old templates, just replace and delete. Primefac (talk) 00:44, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant with {{WikiProject Philosophy|logic=yes}} per Wikipedia:WikiProject Logic/Templates#Project pages. I've replaced the few instances where it was actually used. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 18:49, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Redirect Just make it a wrapper or redirect to the proper tag. Why delete it? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 18:50, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - If the OP fixed all usages of this, then it's better not to promote usage of this, as it makes the impression that there actually is such a WikiProject, which there isn't. This is a bad redirect IMO. --Gonnym (talk) 10:41, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Yoko Tsuno[edit]

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the template below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was delete. REFUND is available if and when the redirects are converted into useful articles and there is enough there to merit a template. Primefac (talk) 00:50, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

None of the listed Yoko Tsuno albums or side characters has an independent article on the English Wikipedia, therefore this navbox is entirely useless, save for Vinea. — JFG talk 14:03, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. -Sonicwave (talk) 07:43, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment -There are actually 5 links in the template - Yoko Tsuno, Yoko Tsuno characters, Yoko Tsuno (character), Vinea, Roger Leloup. At the very least it should be redone, removing all non-links, redirects and template sections. --Gonnym (talk) 10:38, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've redirected three of the five articles for failing to indicate (today) independent notability. Delete the template. --Izno (talk) 14:42, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we were looking at deleting a navbox, not deleting three articles! Granted, they were mostly unsourced, but they would deserve their own AfDs, or a full merge per WP:PRESERVE. — JFG talk 14:56, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
All were tagged for one or another issue, some for getting on toward a decade. None had improved basically since their creation in any meaningful sense. All of the content was unsourced or sourced to primary sources--meaning it was ineligible for merging per WP:RS and WP:WEIGHT. Dropping a "per all-caps" isn't all that great when there was little hope for their eventual improvement as they were (WP:CANTFIX, the section just after WP:PRESERVE, makes that point). (See also WP:NOTPLOT, WP:WAF.) An editor interested in the subject; knowledgeable in our guidelines and policies, especially that of sourcing (fictional topics from a place which does not speak English natively); and planning or actually working on the topics; is more than welcome to restore the articles from their respective histories. Are you that editor? --Izno (talk) 17:34, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would qualify, just not enough energy to get on it right now. Some of the Vineans' futuristic tech was really prescient of Mr. Leloup, writing in the 1970s about biostasis, drones, mind uploading, maglev trains in tunnels, etc. He inspired many French scientists of today! — JFG talk 17:53, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The albums used to have their own pages but they were all redirected to Yoko Tsuno§Albums, so I delinked them in 2014. They still have their own pages on the French Wikipedia.--Auric talk 17:17, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it looks like a Yoko Tsuno fan created this series of articles circa 2006. Pity they were not sourced or improved since. I suppose Yoko is much less known than Tintin in the Anglosphere. — JFG talk 17:53, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Frédérick Lacasse: As the creator of several articles back in the early days, and if you're still around, do you have an opinion on what should be done? — JFG talk 23:57, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This singer's navigational template consists of four links: the artist's article and three albums that redirect back to the artist's article. Therefore, it does not navigate anywhere and is not needed. Aspects (talk) 00:17, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 04:40, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: seems like the redirects were originally separate articles that got merged to the main article, but even if they were separate articles, a navbox seems unnecessary. -Sonicwave (talk) 07:43, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - as OP said, it navigates nowhere. --Gonnym (talk) 10:34, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
