Template:UA (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

This template, designed to be placed on the top of articles, does not appear to be useful for that purpose as it does not indicate any specific action needed to fix the article. "Acceptable" in acceptable standards links to the good article criteria; I support the good article process, but saying the article is "unencyclopedic" unless it meets the good article criteria seems well outside current Wikipedia policy. Is the intent to place this template on top of the 3,000,000+ articles that are neither good articles or featured articles? Finally, note there is also a Template:Ua completely unrelated to this one that could easily lead to confusion. Grondemar 23:49, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Redundant to other cleanup templates which are more explanatory. ---Gadget850 (Ed) talk 19:29, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: I wonder if it contemplates a branch off the article quality scale for an Unacceptable Article? I'm not so sure about baldly calling articles bad. It's barely used. There are indeed better and more specific maintenance templates that can be used. Like db. :) --Bsherr (talk) 03:24, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Suggesting that an article that is not a Good Article shouldn't be used is not a good thing. If there is a specific issue, by all means point it out. But not like this. Reach Out to the Truth 16:59, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - note that {{Ua}} is unused and undocumented too. For more examples of templates differing only by capitalization see Wikipedia:Templates with names differing only in capitalization. Rich Farmbrough, 19:48, 28 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Template:Abercrombie & Fitch people (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Redundant, Template:Infobox person can be used in this situation, no need for a separate template for Abercrombie & Fitch people that is terribly bulky, and looks out of place IMO. Connormahtalk 22:58, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:TableXL (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

When a table needs 300 rows, much better to use the wiki table syntax directly than use a template to produce a table. Particularly horrible to edit a table with row1 to row200 used and needing to insert a row towards the middle of the table as would need to renumber a lot of parameters to add the row. WOSlinker (talk) 16:35, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: I originally created this template for personal use in my user space, when I needed a table larger than the typical Template:Table, and I thought that it may be of some use to other users. I note that it is currently in use at Ark of Taste, and that the conventional Template:Table would not be able to replace it there. I strongly agree with what WOSlinker has said; that using the syntax directly would be more sensible. However, as far as I was aware, the very idea of "table templates" was to make it simpler for users who may not be familiar with such syntax to produce a table, although, I'm not really too fussed if it's decided that this template is just taking that philosophy a little too far. I would, however, appreciate it if someone could take the time to convert the instance of the table at Ark of Taste to wiki-syntax, if indeed it is decided that this template should be deleted. Kind regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 17:56, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be willing to update the Ark of Taste article if the consensus is to delete this template. -- WOSlinker (talk) 19:35, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete This may have been part of the series of reader templates used when Help pages mirrored the meta Help page. That system was abandoned years ago. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 19:32, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
