Propose merging Template:Kinins with Template:Autacoids.

Template:Autacoids (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

I found this nomination in the form of a merge template. My completing the nomination in the correct way is to be seen as no more than an admission that the idea looks reasonable to me on first glance. The original nomination was made in August 2009. There has been discussion about this merge proposal on none. Debresser (talk) 01:03, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge with {{Autacoids}} as proposed in the merger tag. (Is your link to none is supposed to tell us that there hasn't been any previous discussion?) I'm no biochemist, but the template and the associated article both indicate that kinins are a subset of autacoids. A combined template would only have 14 links, which is hardly overloaded for a footer navbox. Still, just to be sure we aren't goofing anything up, I put a notice of the proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Molecular and Cellular Biology in the hope of attracting subject-matter experts to the discussion. --RL0919 (talk) 23:50, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so consensus may be reached.

Template:Irrational numbers (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

A lot of math articles have this infobox of irrational numbers (with other stuff added in). There's been a lot of discussion on the math wikiproject about what to do with it. To make things more organized, I made this infobox into a template (which it should have been), and I hope the community can decide whether such an infobox (template) would be of any good in articles. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 01:40, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: This is a misuse of Wikipedia:Templates for discussion and is the opposite of trying to build WP:consensus. Oleg Alexandrov made this template, which is not used anywhere on Wikipedia, solely for the purpose of nominating if for deletion. The dispute was manufactured when one editor (not Alexandrov) deleted one infobox from one article with no discussion or consensus on the article's talk page. Unsurprisingly, another editor (not me) reverted the deletion. Instead of going to the article's talk page to discuss it (see WP:BRD), that editor went to WikiProject_Mathematics, proposed deleting info boxes similar to that one, and also proposed deleting infoboxes that also gave different information specific to particular articles on irrational numbers. No notice of this discussion was given on the talk pages of the 10 articles involved. After a short discussion (open less than 20 hours) hours, the proposing editor closed the discussion and deleted the various infoboxes from 10 articles. I objected here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics#Objection to removal of infoboxes. Discussion has proceeded on the project talk page, but without sufficient time for interested editors to be heard, and no consensus about what to do has developed. Now, Alexandrov opens this new forum. I urge speedy close of discussion for this misuse of 'Templates for discussion', so that normal consensus about what to do about the infoboxes—several of which have much more information that the unused template created solely for this discussion—can be reached by normal means.
