Rapid transit[edit]

I have done some work in the past two weeks and I think it's ready to be peer reviewed. Some things, like the topics section are still under development. I was thinking about separating specific systems and make a "Selected system" box, giving universal the articles more coverage. How's the layout? What other boxes can I add? Cheers, — Selmo (talk) 05:06, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, let's see if I can help:

  • Intro - Seems abit short also a universal pic would be nice.
  • Archives - I would prefer to see the article summaries and pics the way they appeared on the main portal page. Most portals do it this way, although I have seen one or two with simple links like that(not sure which). Also since the suggestions page is separate, please provide a link from the archives.
  • Pics - Must provide credit, please see all featured portals.
  • Portals - Seems like Portal:UK Railways would fit better than Portal:London Transport, but I'm sure both wouldn't hurt.
  • Cats - The way you have it laid out, I would suggest using <categorytree>. It'll look the same but allow expansion within the box.
  • Featured content - Since your within the "Featured" box there is no need for Featured before articles or lists.
  • Topics - Good luck :)
  • Projects - Suggest using two columns.

What do you mean by selected systems? Such as New York Subway would be one system, London Tube another? Yeah, that could be a good box, if you can find enough route maps, that would work well. Or a selected station box, or a types of trains box. Don't forget not to neglect emerging tech, such as maglev and such. Hope this helps :) Joe I 05:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Yes, I meant things like the tube and the NYCS for "selected system" — Selmo (talk) 18:52, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UK Railways[edit]

The portal has been slightly neglected of late, and had slipped into disrepair. I've done a quick patch-up, with a brighter colour scheme, but I'd like some wider contribution from the folks here at PPR. I'm particularly interested in any sections of the Portal that should not be included, as well as any new sections that should be added.

Kind regards,

Hey, well let's get started:

  • The browse at the top should link Portal:Trains then list your portal as a sub of that.Done
  • The intro should bold link the main article Rail transport in Great Britain at the beginning such as all articles. Seems to be very lacking in other linkage.
  • Related portals - should be symmetrical
  • Pic - Should have credits, no caption, instead a description layed out underneath. Please see any featured portal.
  • Wikiprojects - Since you only have one, I recommend adding parent projects such as train and transport.
  • DYK - Layout should resemble Template:Did you know, mainly with the additions of links and bolding the main article intended.
  • Cats - Start with Category:Rail transport in Great Britain and fill out from there, the box as of now seems really paltry.
  • Things you can do - Remove the {{Portal|UK Railways}}.Done
  • Include {{WikimediaForPortals}}Done--Jorvik 20:55, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Add a major topics section
  • Add lists under any appropriate section

Once those major things are done, we can take a closer look at it. Good luck :) Joe I 07:43, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks for your contributions :) Regards, anthonycfc [talk] 13:55, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where is it?[edit]

I put up a request here for my wikiportal links in my Portal:Kabbalah to be like they have it in the Spirituality portal, but I was surprised to see it is missing. But anyway, I want it like it is in that portal; but instead of all those links (along with the logos of course) I want to have Judaism, and Occult as the links, with the associated logos. If anybody could help me do it; please leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Lighthead 23:54, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
