Aerogel brick[edit]

A heavy brick on a piece of aerogel: which one is more prominently illustrated?
Not for voting - I find this one much better.
Reason
Blown highlights, but mostly, it fails the resolution requirements.

  • Delist The aerogel is bisected by the background and very hard to see. Other pictures of aerogel much more clearly show what it looks like. Enuja 05:39, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep/maybe/dunno I don't have a problem with the bisection. It shows the texture of the material quite well. I also like the fact that the attention is first drawn to the brick, just to realize on second view that the aerosol is actually the stuff that props up the brick. I'd like to see/vote on an alternative first before this should be delisted. ~ trialsanderrors 20:11, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Okay, but it still fails the resolution requirements. Were it nominated today, it would quickly be shot down for that.--HereToHelp 01:36, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • There is no resolution requirement. There's a resolution guideline. ~ trialsanderrors 02:06, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • In new nominations, it would have a very hard time surviving, even if it is only a guideline. And part of the brick is blown to white anyway.--HereToHelp 23:50, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delist too small, the subject is not the main focus of the shot. Witty lama 02:37, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delist because the other images on the aerogel page lead me to believe that images are not so rare that we can't find a better one than this. gren グレン 09:03, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weakish Delist/Keep - It's interesting and made me read the article. But the photo I added to nomination clearly shows that we can have a better image. I have no sens of scale on this image. And how heavy is the brick? I'm not sure though. I go with the census. --Arad 22:12, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delist, I thought this one was more interesting. 8thstar 21:21, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep As long as I've understood the criteria correctly; that because we can't reproduce this image easily, it should be okay if it doesn't quite meet size guidelines? (Or does that only apply to historical images?) Anyhow, I think it's a good striking image, if it is okay :) -Ishaana 16:13, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
