A fractal flame using Apophysis software.
Reason
A fractal is a mathematical concept. It is a way of describing complex concepts with very subtle rules.
Fractals are a concept pioneered by Benoît Mandelbrot, and is a concept that you see in many movies and many batch-processing systems. Many fractals require exorbitant levels of parallel computing.
While it is somewhat unrelated, a TED talk by Benoît himself can be found here.

  • Perhaps its EV might be better served in Fractal or Fractal flame rather than as the last image in a gallery in the article you've listed. I still have no idea what it is. The articles aren't the best at all. :( Matthewedwards :  Chat  22:03, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: We can't promote something that only appears in a gallery. J Milburn (talk) 22:16, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Removed by nominator I regretfully kind of agree. This concept needs an article. Although it is important one day. Gut Monk (talk) 22:33, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks, nevertheless, for bringing it to our attention. I now see that there is some amazing fractal-based art out there, like Subdermal Implants, which was created using Apophysis 2.07. Greg L (talk) 22:37, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
