I am nominating this for featured list removal because it has the following deficiencies:
- This is a list of U.S. states by date of statehood - Redundancy
- The second sentence of the first paragraph is too long and in need of cited references.
- can be considered - Encyclopedia should state what is and what is not; not can be
- ... by either the act of admission or a later resolution issued under that act... - How do our readers find out which date is "admission" and which one is "resolution"?
- Sorting problems - "State" column is not sorted at all and the "date" column is sorted improperly.
- The "Preceding Entity" column should be referenced.
- Should the Original 13 states since 1776 by order of ratification note be cited? I think it can be mentioned in the last paragraph of the lead.
- The note #3 about North and South Dakota should be referenced.
- The general reference "50 State Quarter Program" lists the images of the quarters only. there's no info there.
- The reference from 50states.com is not reliable because the disclaimer on that site states that ...does not warrant, nor assume any legal liability nor responsiblity, for the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of any of the information supplied.
- The File:US states by date of statehood3.gif is not working on the list. I mean when I click on the file it opens and starts its animation, but on the page itself the animation is not working. I tried purging, refreshing, but to no avail.

- Delist based on 3b alone. I see nothing here which can't be merged into U.S. state. And everything that Crzycheetah said too. I suspect this pre-dated "sortable" templates.... The Rambling Man (talk) 14:17, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delist Also based on 3b. Hopefully someone can merge the two lists together like this:
Name | IPA | USPS | Flag | Date | Area (sq mi) | Population (2010[update]) | Capital | Most populous city | Previous entity |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Delaware | /ˈdɛləwɛər/ | DE | December 7, 1787 | 2,491 sq mi (6,452 km2) | 897,934 | Dover | Wilmington | Lower Counties on Delaware, then sovereign state in Confederation | |
Ohio | /oʊˈhaɪ.oʊ/ | OH | March 1, 1803 | 44,825 sq mi (116,096 km2) | 11,536,504 | Columbus | Columbus[1] | The Northwest Territory, land donated to the U.S. by East Coast states such as Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New York | |
Pennsylvania[2] | /ˌpɛns |

- Delist Per above. It best to simply merge the two articles. I've open a discussion to do so. Awg1010 (talk) 17:14, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
