Speedy deletion converted to PROD: New Persia

Hello Zzarch, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on New Persia to a proposed deletion tag. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. — Joseph Fox 10:25, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Very well, I'll get rid of it under G3 (misinformation). — Joseph Fox 10:32, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, Zzarch. Will use "Move" in future. FrenchieAlexandre (talk) 15:28, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

cleanup

Hi there, I've made some significant amends and additions and removed your cleanup etc tags to the piece on Cecil Stephenson. Hope that's OK with you and thanks for the notice - it was a bit messy at first. I'm planning to add in some further details when I get round to it. Please Use the Preview Button

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Ant tribe, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. Hildegard von Steinhäuser (talk) 03:47, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

I'd appreciate if if you remove the deletion of ACBS ... I'll move it over into my space while we get more references ... as it is I do not know how to reach the text I just created. If you click on the website reference you will see ACBS is a large international organization with multiple links to matters on Wiki. The website itself (www.contextualpsychology.org) contains documentation of every statement made in the Wiki article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steven C. Disambiguation link notification

Hi. When you recently edited Saint Andrew's School (Boca Raton, Florida), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Episcopalism (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

San Francisco meetup at WMF headquarters

Hi Zzarch,

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the next wiki-meetup happening in SF. It'll be located at our very own Wikimedia Foundation offices, and we'd love it if some local editors who are new to the meetup scene came and got some free lunch with us :) Please sign up on the meetup page if you're interested in attending, and I hope to see you soon! Online accounting software

Granted the article is a bit light weight at the moment. Would you recommend adding it as a category in the accounting software article? --TimFouracre (talk) 10:30, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I removed your level 3 warning from this user page - he didn't edit again after removing the speedy tag and being warned for it. I found that his article was a copyvio (those promotionally-written ones that go on about the artist's early life and how his amazing talent was evident as an infant usually are) and added a warning about that, but I don't there 's any need to escalate the warnings unless he does something more. (There has been some criticism about newbies' talk pages being a mass of warnings disproportionate to what they have actually done). Regards, JohnCD (talk)

Understood. Thanks for correcting my mistake. Zzarch (talk) 03:14, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

Hi. You just PRODed Garia Academy(Model) School. Perhaps you would like to check and see why the PROD template is not displaying. Before patrolling any more pages, please take a moment to read WP:NPP. Thanks, and happy editing! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:21, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you! Zzarch (talk) 09:23, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I see you tagged Bharatiya janata dal for speedy deletion as having no content, just a minute after its creation. That didn't really give the creator much time to add anything, and hasty tagging like that can scare people away. As it says in the A1/A3 footnote at WP:CSD, "Consensus has developed that in most cases articles should not be tagged for deletion under this criterion moments after creation as the creator may be actively working on the content; though there is no set time requirement, a ten-minute delay before tagging under this criterion is suggested as good practice". -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:54, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the correction. For what it's worth, I tagged the creator's page with {{uw-draftfirst}}. Zzarch (talk) 21:02, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. It did seem odd the creator was requesting deletion. Cheers! Jim1138 (talk) 01:22, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you so much for reverting User:Yaudheya vandalism User:Zzarch. As you can see from the 'edit history' of the article, I have been reverting his edits, but he reverts it day after day. I will guarantee he will come back in couple of days and revert your edit. As you will observe from this, this, this, this, this, this, and more. He has been edit warring with me and users: WikHead, Gurjeshwar, Themeparkgc, JSquish for the last month but he avoids edit warring by coming back in couple of days and reverting to his version. Thank you (69.112.78.110 (talk) 21:36, 23 January 2012 (UTC))

If you do see this user coming back with the vandalism, feel free to either drop him a warning message (located, again, at WP:WARN) or simply ask me here to do it for you. We believe in giving the offending user ample warnings before submitting to ongoing vandalism reports. Again, thank you very much for improving the quality of Wikipedia! Thank you, he has been a headache on my side for the last month. (69.112.78.110 (talk) 21:40, 23 January 2012 (UTC))

Cleanup

Hi there, Ive made some edits in regards to my citations on the piece on Robert Redfern, I hope this is cleaner now , let me know what else I may need to do to help improve it. Regards, User:Ukhealthman 21.51, 2301/2012 (GMT)

Hello. As I do not think that the subject in Robert Redfern fits our biographical standards of inclusion (see WP:BIO), I have submitted the article to Articles for Deletion. Feel free to participate in the debate over there.
Additionally, I see that some other editor (not I) has tagged the article for speedy deletion. If you do not agree with that editor's rationale, feel free to contest it on the talk page. ZZArch talk to me 21:55, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

are you saying he himself does not meet your criteria or does they way I have written the content does not meet as such?? Ukhealthman (talk) 22:05, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

The former. Again, please see the Articles for Deletion page for details. ZZArch talk to me 22:07, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the barnstar! That must have been quite some comment, not only was it reverted, but deleted! If my user page and talk page don't get vandalized, I question my usefulness. Thanks again. Jim1138 (talk) 19:52, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

I have your talk page in my watchlist. Keep doing the good work on fighting vandals, and I'll take care of any attacks as soon as I see them. ZZArch talk to me 02:05, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Flav-R-Straws

Hello! Thanks for your comments regarding flavor straws: what you say regarding the generic category makes sense to me, and I think is also compatible with the continued existence of an article about the specific product. I've made a proposal on the AfD page which I hope you will find acceptable. Could you please let me know there if you agree? -- The Anome (talk) 09:28, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I've now made the proposed changes. -- The Anome (talk) 09:57, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Julia Calcutt

Hello Zzarch. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Julia Calcutt, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: this was a valid A7 nomination but, in view of the author's talk page remarks, I will take it to AfD under WP:NOTDIR #2 and WP:NOR. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 11:32, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

I see another admin zapped it anyway. Well, as I said, it was a valid A7 - I have explained things on the author's talk page. JohnCD (talk) 12:24, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

I added a few more sources to the Steven Wade article. Feel free to withdraw your speedy deletion nomination. // Liftarn (talk)

Yscrugby

You marked my page for deletion. I meant to save it as an "in progress", how do I do that? Yscrugby (talk) 21:32, 27 January 2012 (UTC)yscrugby

Consider contacting an administrator for userfying it. However, material that may not be accepted by Wikipedia will not be userfied. ZZArch talk to me 00:30, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Hart Culture

I noted your response to the deletion of a new page for HART CULTURE C.I.C. The writer and the project is a new area of Research, which has largely informed British politics and the idea of the Big Society. Most of the source material and case studies would be in Schools, Community Centres, Limited edition journals and local Press. There is still time to build. This is important information about a grassroots organsaition empowering local communities through the Arts, and would welcome your opinions to edit the article to ensure that it stays up on Wiki. Julian-redbridge (talk) 11:15, 28 January 2012 (UTC)Julian Redbridge

Please take note that we do not allow using Wikipedia to promote any particular agenda, even ones that you may consider important, such as "empowering local communities through the Arts". Articles will only be created if their subjects meet the notability guidelines, as attested to by reliable sources. If you think that this article meets the criteria, feel free to note so on the deletion debate page. ZZArch talk to me 11:17, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

SPEEDY DELETION | DOWNGRADE

The HART CULTURE C.I.C project is a new grassroots Project, that has been piloted for over 10 years. It is now becoming a significant establishment informing education and alternative therapies, such as Art Therapy. Please review your status on the subject to ensure that other people have the opportunity to build its reference sources.Julian-redbridge (talk) 11:19, 28 January 2012 (UTC)Julian RedbridgeJulian-redbridge (talk) 11:19, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Again, consider taking your opinion to the deletion debate. ZZArch talk to me 11:20, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

The entry of Early 2012 Hong Kong protests not suitable for the article

It is obviously that the article mainly about Hong Kong anti- China conflicts or HongKonger anti- Chinese conflicts ,no just general Hong Kong protests , if the title/entry is Hong Kong protests ,it include HongKonger protest the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ,protest Philippine ,Hong Kong 1 July protests ,protest social problem ,protest unemployment problemand so on .Jackac (talk) 12:06, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

While you have a point in that the current name may be ambiguous, “Anti-mainland conflicts” does not seem an apt name for a protest like this. Perhaps “Hong Kong Insult Controversy” or a similar one would be better? ZZArch talk to me 11:21, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

I think the recent edits here are likely to be a untrue and therefore a hoax.
ie. "Of the 7306 prisoners held in the Naru War Prison, 7035 survived less than 48 hours. The other 271 prisoners were eventually diagnosed as insane. Furthermore, the medical team who carried out the diagnoses were also eventually diagnosed as insane." and "Every Sunday afternoon, dozens of residents gather in front of the CoCo Mart to talk about the events of the past week. The conversations have been described as 'pleasant' and 'enjoyable', but frequently focus on what the Canadian has been up to."
Perhaps a rollback is required?- 220 of Borg 11:59, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

I have added a {{disputed}} message to the article, but I agree with you that we should perhaps revert the edits before the contributor is able to provide reliable sources. ZZArch talk to me 12:02, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks

For the comment on my talk page! Cheers, Jim1138 (talk) 04:43, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

The argument that non-free images must be the subject of commentary was invalidated by this RFC. {{Non-free historic image}} and {{db-badfairuse}} are simply incorrect in their descriptions.   — C M B J   06:06, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

It would appear that this RfC was intended to address the issue of images of coins and banknotes. I still hold that this image of the ACTA protest, created by a commercial agency, is not covered under the fair use principle or Wikipedia's guidelines; ergo, I am submitting it to files for deletion for consideration. ZZArch talk to me 06:15, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Even if you want to hold this particular image to that (arguably outdated) standard, it was still indeed the subject of commentary by Mike Masnick. Regardless, I'd more than welcome the nomination at XfD so that we can get some attention for those templates. There's been a standing request for {{Non-free historic image}} to be updated since May 2011.   — C M B J   06:21, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Also, the "coinage" RFC you're referring to seems to be unrelated to the "subjects of commentary" RFC. They're just on the same archive page.   — C M B J   06:43, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Apologies for that mistake, but even so, I do not agree that this image passes the criteria of fair use–regardless of whether the "subjects of commentary" clause is involved. See the FfD page for details. ZZArch talk to me 06:47, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm certain enough that the picture (or at least one version of it) passes muster even without considering that RFC. WP:NFC#UUI#7 says: "A photo from a press or photo agency (e.g., AP, Corbis or Getty Images), unless the photo itself is the subject of sourced commentary in the article". Forbes says: "A new photo is doing the rounds on the Internet. It shows members of the Polish parliament holding print-outs of the notorious Guy Fawkes mask in front of their faces, homage to an unofficial symbol of the Anonymous cyber collective." Techdirt says: "Of course, we should note that, from the picture, it sure looks like those masks are "counterfeit" copies of the official Guy Fawkes mask that Time Warner holds the rights to. Good thing ACTA is coming into force to stop such blatant "counterfeiting," huh?". I'd prefer to keep the current version because it adds more value to the article, but we can revert to the other one while I look for sources specific to it if you prefer.   — C M B J   07:11, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

AfD for Haitai Oh! Yes Choco Cake

Hello, I realized that you put 'Haitai Oh! Yes Choco Cake' up for AfD for dubious notability. If possible, I would like to either try to improve the page to stay. Although it is difficult to find notability for the topic, I found a stub for Haitai the company and was wondering if moving my information over to the stub might be a better idea since the cake is a product of Haitai company. I am a new to Wikipedia editing so I will appreciate any feedback. Pilkyu65 (talk) 03:11, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

That is a good idea. You may consider moving the content and replacing the page for the product with a redirection to it. ZZArch talk to me 03:16, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
