Tsunade (綱手), is a fictional character in the Naruto universe created by Masashi Kishimoto. Introduced in the first part on the manga. Tsunade became the position of Fifth Hokage (五代目火影, Godaime Hokage) to protect Konohakagure

Creation of name Tsunade come from Jiraiya Gōketsu Monogatari (児雷也豪傑物語, "The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya").

Creation and conception

Masashi Kishimoto create the character that name Tsunade. The character name come form Jiraiya Gōketsu Monogatari (児雷也豪傑物語, "The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya"). For the folktales of the "The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya", the one of character idea become in Naruto series.

Character outline

Background

She come form Senju-clan. Tsunade is the granddaughter of the First Hokage. She is also grandniece of the second Hokage. Later on she joined Jiraiya and Orochimaru as a teammate. Her sensei was Hiruzen Sarutobi-sensei. Her sensei give them a test and Tsunade pass. Soon Tsunade started to study and play with her brother, Nawaki. Then the worst happened, Nawaki died and Orochimaru gave the first hokage necklace back to Tsunade and causing Tsunade to feel sad and depressd. Next Tsunade started to focus on medical jutsu. She asked the high council for medical ninja to teammate. Dan help her for medical ninja for team. Tsunade fall in love with Dan and give him the Hokage necklace. Soon later in mission Dan was injured. Tsunade try to heal Dan with medical ninjutsu but cannot stop the bleeding. Dan died and Tsunade was terribly upset.

Later on the years Tsunade come back and joined with Jiraiya and Orochimaru to created "Legendary Three Ninja" (伝説の三忍, Densetsu no Sannin), legendary Sannin. They face Hanzo and it was draw. Sannin take a break at the cave and meet Yahiko, Konan , and Nagato . Tsunade and the other share their food to Yahiko and Yahiko friend. Then Tsunade and her team start to leave and Yahiko, Konan , and Nagato ask them to for help. Tsunade decide to leave them alone but Jiraiya want to train them. After the Shinobi war end, Tsunade and her team split to their own path.

Personality

Tsunade constantly assumes the appearance of a younger woman, retaining only her characteristically large breasts. Despite her odd personality Tsunade is a talented ninja; she has superhuman strength that allows her to reduce buildings to rubble and can heal injuries that most others would consider incurable and her healing abilities. also Tsunade like to gamble. Her luck in gamble is low. She have a very low percent of win in gambling. extra information: Tsunade drink a lot and get drunk. For example When Jiraiya take Tsunade out for drink around Konoha.

Relationship

Tsunade first relationship is with her brother Nawaki. She took care of Nawaki like an older sister to a younger brother and always cared for his safety and health. Eventually Nawaki was sent on a mission with Orochimaru. Unfortunately, during that mission, Nawaki was killed by an explosive trap. His body, so mutilated from the explosion, was unrecognizable until Orochimaru retrieved the First Hokage's necklace and returned it to Tsunade. Due to Naruto's likeness of Nawaki, Tsunade later supported his goal to become the Hokage.

Tsunade first love was with a ninja named Dan. Dan help Tsunade's movement to include a medical ninja for each team. Dan told Tsunade that he wanted become Hokage to help Konohakagure. Tsunade gave him First Hokage necklace for good luck. At that time, they both started to spend time together. Afterword, Dan was report to a mission that he have to take. Tsunade wished him farewell and to be safe in his mission. Tsunade was in other team assign to be medical team. Tsunade was sent to mission where Dan was. Tsunade and team saw that Dan team was kill or injury. Tsunade looks around and see Dan on the ground. Tsunade went and try to heal Dan. Dan spoke to Tsunade that it was alright and he know that he will die. Tsunade refuse what Dan said and still try to heal him. When Dan died, Tsunade blamed herself that she couldn't save him.

Medical Ninjutsu

Shousen Jutsu

This is Ninjutsu that focus the user to use their chakra. This ninjutsu use those chakra to heal the user of their injuries and wounds. Tsunade use this jutsu for the last result in battle. The jutsu use all her chakra that she store in her mark in the forehead and starts to her injuries. The mark disappear when Tsunade use this ninjutsu. This cause her to be untouchable in battle.

The side effect of this ninjutsu cause her to turn wrinkle. Her skin start to lost chakra and result will show wrinkle of skin and even her face. As result of using this ninjutsu, cause her to take a long rest. Also the person can go to coma when using this ninjutsu with their feeling. For example, the battle with Pain. Tsunade use this ninjutsu for protecting the Konoha people from Pain attack. Afterword, while feeling of hope disappearing, she started to slide away. Tsunade soon when to stat of coma.

Summon Jutsu

Katsuyu

Tsunade summoning jutsu calls out Katsuyu. Katsuyu is slug that has a strong acid attack and even helps Tsunade to transfer chakra to other people. Katsuyu can also split apart to many small slugs. This will help Tsunade to spread out information and also to heal them. While Katsuyu splits apart, Tsunade also can see when Katsuyu see. Katsuyu also can transfer their own chakra to others. Katsuyu was friends with Toad summon and Snake summon.

Plot overview

Tsunade as well as her former teammates Jiraiya and Orochimaru, is a former student of the Third Hokage. She is also the granddaughter of the First Hokage and grandniece of the second Hokage, so many characters in the series refer to her with the Japanese honorific "hime" (meaning "princess"). Despite her connections to past Hokage, Tsunade hates the position when she is first introduced. After her brother and boyfriend Dan died in pursuit of their dreams to become Hokage, she lost faith in the title and the concept of dreams. She regained her faith in both after meeting Naruto Uzumaki, who consistently overcomes any obstacle in his own dreams of being Hokage. As a result, Tsunade accepted the position of Fifth Hokage (五代目火影, Godaime Hokage?) to protect Konohakagure on behalf of everyone she has loved. Despite the importance of her position, Tsunade tends to avoid her duties, instead leaving them for her assistants. She will fulfill her role to address matters important to the village, and throughout Part II leads Konoha in combating Akatsuki. When Konoha was leveled by Pain, she transferred all of her energy to Katsuyu, her slug summon, to shield the villagers from harm. Her feeling of people that she care of caused her to fall into a coma, leading to her temporary dismissal as Hokage. Tsunade is a compulsive gambler with terrible luck. On the rare occasions that she hits a winning streak, she perceives it as a bad omen. Additionally, although she act like in her fifties but her age is unknown, she constantly assumes the appearance of a twenty-year-old woman, retaining only her characteristically large breasts. Despite her odd personality Tsunade is a talented ninja; she has superhuman strength that allows her to reduce buildings to rubble and can heal injuries that most others would consider incurable. Her healing abilities are such that she has devised a method of regeneration for herself, making her all but invincible in battle. At the conclusion of Part I, Tsunade takes Sakura Haruno as an apprentice, teaching her how to use both of her trademark abilities
