Welcome![edit]

Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, YukikoGC! Thank you for your contributions. I am Slashme and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. I know it can be frustrating when the first article you create is nominated for deletion, but please don't let that put you off! Stick around, maybe check out the Wikiproject on music and see how you can help. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

Brandon Hilton[edit]

Hi Yukiko,

I'd recommend first checking to see how the deletion debate goes before uploading pictures. Are you aware of the notability criteria for Wikipedia articles on musicians? Please confirm that Hilton actually conforms to those criteria, and if he does, give evidence of this fact, supported by reliable, third party sources.

Given that point, it's really cool that you got the guy to release pictures under a free license. If you can do this for some other artists, it would really help the project! The best way to do it is to upload the pictures on Wikimedia Commons - this is a site which all the different Wikipedia languages can draw from, so that a picture doesn't have to be uploaded separately on all the different projects. The upload wizard should help you in this process, and also help you to process the permission given by the artist, but if you get stuck, ask me! --Slashme (talk) 17:07, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

About copyright[edit]

Sorry, one thing before I forget: A picture is automatically copyrighted unless it is explicitly released under a free license. The fact that the copyright owner has given permission for it to be used on Wikipedia isn't generally enough for us to use it: see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Licensing for more info, and again, ask me if you need more info on this point. --Slashme (talk) 17:20, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
