promotionalism[edit]

You have been making extensive usually promotional editits to Jean-Luc Sandoz, Julius Natterer, and Lambert Sonna Momo. As reviewing administrator, I ask you to explain your connection? DGG ( talk ) 06:18, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DGG, Thank you for your message. Indeed I had not written it on the English side but I had declared on the French wikipedia that I work for the two Professors ans scientists of the school EPFL, Jean-Luc Sandoz and Lambert Sonna Momo so I can regularly update the pages as soon as I have new sources.Julius Natterer was a Professor too with already a page in German which I translated. In French side I regularly update all the pages I have created or translated or already contributed. I create and contribute more on diverse articles, topics and team projects but in English I contribute only on some pages that I know very well. My English is not good enough to make more. I have many interest in the French side but I'm limited in English. That's why I only contribute a few. I do my best not to be promotional and to keep a neutral tone, but feel free to correct me if necessary. Thanks in advance for your help and understanding.--Yasminkaa (talk) 11:16, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The rules in enWP are different from the frWP, and if you're going to translate their articles here, you must know our rules. The primary one is that you MUST declare coi on the enWP, according to our rules which are on WP:COI. and WP:PAID. The safe practice is to declare on your user page the coi, and also on the talk page of each article. Never move an article for which you have paid coi into mainspace--wait in draft for a reviewer. Further, for any substantial changes in an article, you cannot make them in mainspace, but suggest them on the article talk page, and place a notice {{request edit}} on the article talkpage. In enWP, articles of scientists must meet WP:PROF. or alternatively the WP:GNG. They must also be directed to the general public who has heard of the individual and wants some information about them, not for current or prospective students, sponsors, or colleagues.
For an academic make sure the article contains, first, the basic biographical information such as birthyear and birthdplace, then the full sequence of degrees and professional positions in chronological order, with dates. Next, a complete list of books published, with year, date, publisher, ISBN (referenced to WorldCat), and links to published reviews of the books; and (in the sciences) the 5 or so most cited peer-reviewed articles, given in full with coauthors, full name of journals, and links, with the number of citations to each of them from Google Scholar of Scopus or ISI; any national level awards--(not junior awards or awards from their own university) Add major national-level outside positions, such as president of the major national organizations, and any positions of editor-in-chief ; Membership or minor offices in most societies, and service on editorial boards, do not count for much & are better omitted.
Don't use promotional phrases, like "his expert continues to share his passion for wood construction, long after his academic retirement in 2005." or "j Julius Natterer is regularly quoted as a reference by the generations that follow him, "
Please fix the ones you have written--you can do it yourself this time without bothering with requested changes; add the coi statement to everything you've worked on, and then let me know on my user talks page, DGG ( talk ) 22:33, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Declaration[edit]

Hello DGG, I am a Wikipedian on the French pages and I write about many subjects (women, Africa, star war, architects, culture, construction, etc.) When I saw that the pages of people I know well like Jean-Luc Sandoz and Lambert Sonna Momo were created by the EPFL, I only allowed myself to contribute with photos and sources I had to improve them. My English is not good enough for me to do more.

I work for these two people so I know them but in no way was I paid for these voluntary contributions. But my English is not good enough for me to write and correct sentences that are perhaps too promotional. Please help me if you can.

I have translated Professor Julius Natterer's page into English in the hope that one of his English-speaking students can complete it.

My contribution history is here https://fr.wikiscan.org/utilisateur/Yasminkaa I have never been paid and I am faithful to the values of WP: sharing, transmission, contribution, help, free. Feel free to correct theses pages.

I copy this declaration on this 3 pages, thank you for understanding.
