Hello my name is Karen Taylor and I am a 33 year old female that resides in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I just visited a site and seen a very familiar name Vern Pickard. I would like to tell you that I basicly grew up in His church Cherokee Home Mission and I was a reciepiant of CCF untill my mother could manage on her own. Vern taught great morals and respect to all members of his church hard work and helped them all he could. I will ever be greatful for the christmas gifts and vochers that we recieved during our time of need. I grew up with twin brothers and my mother. My father was in prison.The twin's dad was no where in site. That made things very difficult. Mother worked 2 sometimes 3 jobs to support her children. I can tell you all I know the feeling of being cold and hungary, mom doing the best she could. I can still remember going to Wal-Mart to get school supplies and new cloths shoes and coats for the upcoming school year. That is a feeling every child should have. My husband and I never had children because I was afraid that my children would have the same to go through. I believe that you should have better for your children than you had it. I may feel diffrent later, I will have no one to help with finding a nursing home for my self. (ha ha). The point has been made re: CCF and a short Thank You. I do appericated all that Vern Pickard did for our family. He will never be forgotten.
