Your creation of James A. Stroud[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! It seems pretty clear to me that your creation of and subsequent edits on James A. Stroud constitute a conflict of interest (I am assuming, from your username, that you are his son, William B. Stroud). Wikipedia strives to maintain above all a neutral viewpoint; furthermore, information on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable, which means that other editors can come along and "fact-check" the article to make sure there are no false statements in it. Because it's difficult to "fact check" when there are no published sources, many Wikipedians strive to only write articles about people who are demonstrably notable.

If you write an article about a family member, the article may start to run into the sorts of problems listen in this guideline about autobiographies. For this reason, it's generally discouraged. Looking at the James A. Stroud article, it seems like it contains a lot of unsourced original research, with some unverifiable statements. Furthermore, it's difficult to determine how notable James A. Stroud is, since the article doesn't list any books he's written or articles that have been written about him. Indeed, other editors have noted that fact, which you have deleted from the page.

Please let me know what your thoughts are on this issue. If you can't prove his notability according to the factors covered in Notability (people), then I'm going to have to nominate this article for deletion. -sthomson06 (Talk) 21:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated James A. Stroud, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that James A. Stroud and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of James A. Thank you. -sthomson06 (Talk) 16:17, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
