Richard Isay

Hello. I had just entered the information which I then deleted, shortly after entering it. I came to realize upon reading it back that I had cluttered things up a bit with information which is pretty much extraneous to Dr. Isay's career, which is why I decided to take it back out. I meant to put it in the notes but neglected to. I still think the article would be better without it. As a researcher and historian, one has to weigh the relative importance of information in an article, and the early papers just aren't important to Dr Isay's career. Best, Hologramspaceman (talk) 17:35, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

@Hologramspaceman: That's fine, just be sure to note the reasoning in your edit summary to let other editors know, otherwise it may be considered vandalism when you delete that much content without any explanation. Keep in mind many editors use 3rd-party apps such as Huggle or STiki to patrol recent changes, and usually they cannot see the history in these apps, only the change you made, so they will not see that you added the content and then went back and took it out again. They CAN, however, see your edit summary which will help them identify the reason for deleting so much material. Keep up the good work, cheers. -War wizard90 (talk) 02:45, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks! I appreciate your very helpful and practical advice. I always intend to make a notation but sometimes neglect to. It hadn't occurred to me that it might be picked up by an app. I'd actually like to take that early part out again, for the reason cited, with a notation this time. By the time I'm done I think the reason will be more evident. I'm doing research on Isay right now so I'm sure I'll have more to add. I'll be doing the same sort of work with other psychiatrists. I think that may end up being my niche. Thanks again. Best, Hologramspaceman (talk) 18:37, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, I think you misunderstood the WP:CREDENTIAL policy. It just means that the title is not inserted before name. We don't refer to the subject as Professor Erkip, but if she is a professor, than the article can and should be mentioning it, just as long as it's sourced. Basically, there is no problem with stating Erkip is a professor. For example, we don't put the title Dr. in front of names, but obviously an article about a doctor would still mention that the subject is a doctor. A professor would be no different. Cmr08 (talk) 06:28, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

@Cmr08: Hi, as long as you don't have any issue with it, I don't either. However, I removed it because WP:CREDENTIAL states, "should not be used before (or after) the name in the initial sentence..." which lead me to believe it shouldn't be mentioned in the lede. However, not mentioning it in the lede doesn't really make sense to me and so I have no qualms about leaving it in. Maybe it should say "should not be used before (or directly after)" if that's what is meant by the policy. Cheers. -War wizard90 (talk) 01:46, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

NO IT"S NOT REALLY LIKE that

You probably didn't realize it, but my friend had put all of those barnstars & stuff on as a joke,

so I deleted them as they didn't seem like true/real achievments to me. I'm sorry for taking up space on your talk page, but it had to be done -period-

Also, don't forget that users are free to delete most messages from their talk pages, per WP:BLANKING. —C.Fred (talk) 02:38, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
@Shirugaki:@C.Fred: Sorry, when I saw the "delete, delete, delte," repeated like 50 times I assumed it was vandalism rather than the user removing BarnStars from their own talk page. I will revert my edits, I shouldn't have jumped the gun on assuming it was a vandal, my bad. -War wizard90 (talk) 02:40, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
