Question

Hi. It seems that you deleted a page that I edited last night and I'd like to know why. I have no idea how this system works. Me and another user, Mert Metin, made a valuable contribution and you simple went ahead and discarded it. Dmacrini (talk) 14:08, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

@Dmarcini and Mertmetin613: I did not delete the page. Only administrator's can do that. In this particular case RHaworth was the admin. who made the call to delete the Uniweb page, you may wish to discuss the details with them. However, the reason it was tagged for speedy deletion was because it did not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject. In order to be considered "credible" you must cite reliable sources that are not primary sources. In order to be considered "important or significant" the cited sources must address the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it need not be the main topic of the source material. For more information please see Wikipedia's General Notability Guideline. Finally, for new user's it is recommended that you create new articles through the Article Wizard which will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating a good article. This also allows you to create, edit, and improve the article in a draftspace before moving it into the main article space, where it is subject to deletion if it fails Wikipedia's criteria. Your work is not lost or "discarded" it can be recovered and moved into a draftspace for you to work on if an administrator deems it appropriate, this is something you could inquire of from the deleting admin. as well. Finally, coordinating accounts/edits with another person and for promotional reasons is discouraged. Please see: Conflict of Issues and Sock puppetry policies in regards to this. Let me know if you need assistance with anything else. -War wizard90 (talk) 23:57, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Persondata

... is now deprecated, as no longer required: it's apparently now to be removed from articles, not added to them. Please see WP:PERSON. Eustachiusz (talk) 10:08, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

@Eustachiusz:In that case someone should probably inform the AWB developers so that it doesn't automatically add it to biographical articles. In the meantime I will attempt to find a workaround. Thanks for the info. -War wizard90 (talk) 22:43, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
Well looks like someone has already notified them. Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser#Persondata deprecated. -War wizard90 (talk) 22:49, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
OK - I don't use AWB so didn't realise it got added automatically. I'm sure the change will work its way through the system! All best, Eustachiusz (talk) 23:29, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Uh, guys, Victor Bockarie Foh has no profile on Wikidata. How about you add the Wikidata profile before you delete the persondata template and its input data? Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 19:27, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Interesting little article.
I went there after seeing this Age news story, which I suspect is the same as the SMH source on Loi's page. I also suspect that she may not meet notability guidelines as Loi is apparently only notable for this discovery, but whatever. The main article would seem to me to be about the 'Plasma tube' with Cleo Loi redirecting there. (I also tried searching WP for Plasma duct, and Plasma conduit but all that turns is Star Trek pages!)
Flux tube may be a related phenomenon. See also Flux transfer event.
• Searching Google for "flux tube" +magnetosphere returns possibly relevant results.
• I fixed a red-link for you here. 220 of Borg 15:25, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Apparently her 'full' name is "Shyeh Tjing Loi" per http://www.researchgate.net/profile/Shyeh_Loi, or "Shyeh Tjing Cleo Loi" per https://www.mendeley.com/profiles/shyeh-tjing-cleo-loi/. 220 of Borg 16:49, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
@220 of Borg:I actually planned on starting an article about the plasma tubes themselves if someone didn't beat me to it, which is why I created a redlink for it in this article. Her individual notability may be a little ambiguous, but given that she was the lead researcher, did this work as part of her thesis, proved a long-standing theory, and earned the Bok prize for the discovery as well as publication in a major journal I think gives enough to satisfy notability concerns. Especially given the push on Wikipedia to include more articles about professional females. I do agree that we should have an article about the plasma tubes though, just haven't got around to it. As for her full name, I'll have to look into it. If her common name is Cleo Loi, we can probably leave the article where it is and give her full name in the lead, if that is not the common name she uses though, we may need to move the article to her common name. If you want to give a hand in creating the plasma tube article, please do so. -War wizard90 (talk) 22:51, 4 June 2015 (UTC).
Yeh, I must admit I probably didn't look into it quite enough, (it was ≈ 1:30 AM!) though the Bok Prize article is rather poor. (not edited in 4 years!) Not sure how notable that award is. I also brought the topic up on the science Ref Desk here as her discovery is to me a bit 'vague'. Don't be surprised if she gets a delete nomination, though I won't be doing that. Note the External link I added to a PDF draft of the paper, rather technical!

New page patrol

Please "review" or "curate" any pages you nominate for any sort of deletion. Thanks. --I dream of horses (talk to me) (contributions) @ 04:02, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

@I dream of horses:I was under the impression that Twinkle automatically did this for me, I guess not. I'll be more aware in the future. -War wizard90 (talk) 04:09, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
No problem. --I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message. (talk to me) (contributions) @ 04:10, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
@I dream of horses:FYI, I've started a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Twinkle#Question regarding marking pages patrolled to request this be added to twinkle, it seems that it automatically marks pages as patrolled when you nominate them for CSD or PROD through twinkle, but not for AfD oddly enough. -War wizard90 (talk) 04:28, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Revert on Robert Moses

If you undo an edit using STiki like this, you should have an edit summary explaining why, so that the other editor has some idea of what to fix. Conifer (talk) 07:18, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

@Conifer:I left a message on the editors talk page explaining why I reverted their changes, as can be seen here. Although, now that I'm looking at it closer, I did say it was biography of a living person, and it is not. I should've used the template for unsourced content rather than BLP, but that was simply a mistake.-War wizard90 (talk) 23:16, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Comments from Cathylyn99

i grew up in Sharon, PA and know the attractions personally. i'm not sure how to reference that. i'm very sorry you removed my update, as those were regionally famous draws to sharon.

@Cathylynn99:Unfortunately your personal experience is not a reliable source and therefore cannot be used as verifiable data. Don't worry, the information you added is not lost and can be restored as soon as reliable sources are found to support the statements made in the article. If you need help on finding references or how to cite sources, the Teahouse is a good place for new editors to ask questions and familiarize themselves with Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. Let me know if you have any other questions. -War wizard90 (talk) 23:16, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Just a heads up

Please warn users before bringing them in AIV. We can't take action in most cases without adequate warnings. Thanks for your help. Glen 06:45, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

@Glen:I'll keep that in mind, is it normally appropriate to give a user a 4im warning for repeatedly tripping filter 80? Thanks. -War wizard90 (talk) 02:52, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
