Greetings! A stub template or category which you created has been nominated for renaming or deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type most likely doesn't meet Wikipedia requirements for a stub type, through failure to meet standards relating to the name, scope, current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals! This message is a boilerplate, left here as a courtesy, and should not be considered personal in nature. Just wanted to give you a heads up on one that you created. Contents of São Nicolau (Porto) replaced with contents of São Félix da Marinha[edit]

Hi, I see that your last edit of São Nicolau (Porto) on 23:01, 6 September 2010, has replaced it's contents with that of São Félix da Marinha. I guess this is a bug? -- Peter (talk) 20:52, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I generally write on shooting equipment not record holders or ISSF shooting. If a Chinese girl recently equaled a current (perfect) world record she is should be mentioned. I only know official world records can only be achieved at a few international top level events governed directly by the ISSF, so it is possible her achievement does not qualify for a world record. In that case she achieved a national record. There is an article about surpassing world records; see List of national shooting records surpassing the world records. Wikipedian Joa might be able to help you answering your question better.--Francis Flinch (talk) 18:46, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stub categories[edit]

Hi. Beverly Cross is on my watchlist, and I noticed that you'd changed the stub cat. I looked at the article and realised that neither {{UK-actor-stub}} nor {{england-actor-stub}} was appropriate (I too had missed this when I'd previously edited the article). I then tried to find a suitable stub for a playwright or dramatist and was surprised when I couldn't find one in WP:SST (did I miss it?). Somehow, I found my way to Category:stub categories, so all was well and I fixed it. It does seem to me that the WP:SST and the stub categories category ought to be kept in synch and, if that is difficult or impossible, there should be links between the two. What do you think? Let me know if I've got any of this wrong. If I've got it right, perhaps you could escalate the matter to wherever would be the best place for stub-sorters to discuss it. Best. --GuillaumeTell 18:25, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

stubs for categorization of hotels[edit]

Hi; I see you do stub-stuff. Could you look at something that blew up my watchlist?

This seems a massive shift of how all of these hotels are categorized, and the shift to 'structures' seems quite off, to me. Much more conventional to organize hotels by the chains that operate them. Seems to be the last 500 edits of Dawynn, at least. Cheers, Jack Merridew 20:20, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Poor stub sort[edit]

This is not a particularly astute or constructive edit:

--Mais oui! (talk) 11:25, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Erna Lazarus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article has had no sources inserted since it was tagged in 2007. That's long enough. It should be rescued or deleted. If rescued, the filmography should be turned into a "Selected filmography" and cut down to six notable films, per guidelines

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. David in DC (talk) 17:03, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated this article for deletion, after the PROD notice was lifted. The article has been tagged for no having no sources on the article's page since 2007. WP:DEADLINE does not extend into infinity. The only source the editor who deleted the prior prod notice could find was evidently not sufficient to establish notability. assuming good faith, if it we're, the editor would have put it into the article, instead of onto the talk page. I agree. It's not enough to pass WP:GNG, let alone WP:BIO. I can find no better. If (A) the tag has been there since 2007 and (B) the editor who opposes Prod can find no source that establishes notability, and (C) I can find none either, WP:DUCK. Sports teams by nationality[edit]

Hi, just wondered if you had thought about sports teams by country? At the moment we only have Norway as a top level template/category for sports teams (however that one happened...) and I haven't done any numbers but I think templates in the form of {{foo-sport-team-stub}} where we have Category:Fooian sport stubs is worth a look (although I have a lot of work on sport stubs by country project still to go!). Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:09, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Georgia (U.S. State) Stub Sorting for Education Articles[edit]

Hey Waacstats!

I noticed you placed an education sorting stub on the Quitman County School District (Georgia) page and well I have a proposition to you. If you wanted to increase your edit total or further help out with the Stub sorting you can go down this list of school districts in the state of Georgia to assign education sorting stubs List of school districts in Georgia (U.S. state). I went through this list last summer creating about 97% of all the pages present. I would go through them all and add the tags myself but that would increase my edit count on those pages. But if you don't want to do it, that's cool with me-no worries, it can always wait for someone else to come around if and when they are bored. haha. Anyway thanks again for all that you do to make Wikipedia what it is today! :] Tamer_of_Hope talk 02:22, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bot help?[edit]

Hi WS - I forget, do you run a bot? If not, do you know anyone stubsorting-friendly who does? It's for the Ross Dependency split I recently mentioned at WP:WSS/P. All the Victoria Land and Ross Island stubs are in subcategories of the permcats for the two areas, I'm just looking to exchange the Ross templates for new ones for those two places. If necessary I can do it by hand, but since there are over 1000 Victoria Land ones, a bot would be a great help. Grutness...wha? 12:32, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that - I'll help out with some if I get time, but want to start on the huge West Antarctica category, which'll probably take most of my time. Grutness...wha? 01:46, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Whee - done already! Thanks heaps! Victoria Land and Ross are both oversized, but they're split as far as is probably practical - two categories of 1400 stubs each are better than one of 3000 anyway... Grutness...wha? 08:53, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your paralympics work[edit]

Hello Neil, my name is Leigh Blackall and I am involved in a project that aims to support the development of better coverage of Australian Paralympians. We've noticed your prolific work creating good article stubs, and want to know what we can do to encourage and support your work. I was hoping you wouldn't mind giving me a brief interview, so I might publish a post on our project blog about you and your work on Wikipedia. I was going to write about where you're from, the work you've already done, and the work you are planning to do. Most of this I can already glean from your user page, but I was hoping I could get some insight into who you are (maybe a photo), why you do it, and what your motivations are, pet hates, what you appreciate, and what you might suggest we do to support and encourage work like yours more. I hope this comes across as genuine and wanting to celebrate your work. I can be contacted at leighblackall@gmail.com or I'll return here for your response. BLP Violations[edit]

Hi. Great work creating stub articles about Paralympic athletes. This is an area that really needs work. I was going through some of the new articles you created on Wikipedia:WikiProject Olympics/Paralympics/New articles and noticed that probably half the articles you created about living people have no citations. This is a violation of WP:BLP and a number of these articles have been tagged with that problem. If you could please, please go back through the articles you created about these athletes, fix all the WP:BLP violations by citing sources, that would be really awesome. There are at least 10 to 20 articles and the sheer volume of BLP violations just appears daunting. Rather than create new articles, which are needed, can you please clean up the ones you've created? --LauraHale (talk) 22:32, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise for editing this twice, I hadn't realised I had. I only put in "artificial intelligence researcher" as I had a quick read of the first paragraph and the categories and as the categories contained nothing like "foo engineer" or "computer scientist" i assumed (Wrongly) that this was the area he worked in and was a more precise description of what he is known for.Thankyou for changing the persondata info but you might also want to look at the categories he is in. No British politicians before 1707[edit]

People who lived in the British Isles before the Act of Union 1707 were not British. So the change you made to William Heveningham(1604–1678) is not correct. It says he was an English politician in the first line and the stub is {{England-politician-stub}} so how did you come to the conclusion that he was a "British politician"?

I guess you will have to run the AWB again and fix all similar edits. -- PBS (talk) 09:34, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AWB usage suspended[edit]

I have your AWB usage, for two reasons the first is that this talk page show that you have been careless on at least 3 separate occasions this month. But more worrying is that despite being warned about carelessness, you are making 10 edit a minute. There is no way in that time you can check the that changes you are making are correct. In your last 50 edits: from

  • 08:28, 26 November 2011 m Didier Boulaud ‎ (→References: Add persondata short description using AWB)

to

  • 08:32, 26 November 2011 m Francis Hillmeyer ‎ (→References: Add persondata short description using AWB)

The minutes (28 and 32) my well bot be full minutes:

  • 28, 8 edits
  • 29, 10 edits
  • 30, 11 edit
  • 31, 10 edits
  • 32, 10 edits

(I've miss counted by on there are only 49 edits there)

I conclude that you have broken at least the first two of the Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser#Rules of use. I will follow this post up at WP:ANI, the suspension is like a bot stop, it may be on refection that you can have the privileged back very shortly it depends on the consensus but as an administrator seeing your careless edits on three separated occasion in less than 2 weeks I am not willing to let you change 10 pages a second while a consensus is reached at ANI. -- PBS (talk) 10:15, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#AWB usage suspended for Waacstats -- PBS (talk) 11:14, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well there so far there is a resounding silence at WP:ANI (and silence is taken to be consent), so what do you propose to do over my concerns? BTW you are allowed to justify your actions at the ANI if you so wish. I will put your talk page into my watch list so you can reply here and keep the conversation in one place. -- PBS (talk) 01:19, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have been trying to cut down the biggest back log on wikipedia and thought that some relatively small use of AWB would help, I only used articles that were stub tagged to what I was adding not all articles as some people might be better known for exploits outside of say politics and these would need to be done by hand. Obviously I am not going to use AWB for this task again without checking each edit, which will probably mean I won't use it at all for this task as I could probably get more done by editing manually the way I have been. I would also like to point out that the first edit you mention wasn't done with AWB and the writer has since agreed that my edit was correct and the other two I went straight back and cleared any mess (hopefully I got all the english parlimentarians). All I can say is I'm sorry for the trouble it has caused and I will be more careful with any future AWB edits. Waacstats (talk) 10:43, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As you are using AWB again you obviously read my posting on ANI. One point I wanted to rais on your posting here. When AWB highlights a page, it you click on the link in he left hand list it will open up a web page to that article which you can then edit by hand if you want to make more changes or different changes for that specific article, than those you have set up in AWB. It is often faster to access articles that way than through just using a browser without AWB finding the pages for you. You may already be aware of that feature in which case sorry for teaching my grandmother how to suck egges. I am taking your talk page off my watch list. Happy editing.-- PBS (talk) 11:10, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Given that Zadeh lists "Artificial intelligence" in his areas of research on his faculty page, you would appear to be correct about Zadeh considering himself to be an artificial intelligence researcher. I have restored this description, which I reverted when you added it, to the article, and I do so with my apologies for having been mistaken. Greetings... about this change, note that Larry Solway was an unsuccessful election candidate and did not get to be a politician as such; his primary career was in broadcasting therefore I have corrected that. American politicians?[edit]

Multiple changes have applied to William Henry Taylor, Elizabeth Bentley, Harry Dexter White & John S. Service, labeling them as "American Politicians." They were not politicians. None of them ever ran for office. Elizabeth Bentley was never more than a private citizen.

Please reverse these changes. DEddy (talk) 14:10, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
