Thanks for uploading Image:St W X.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:St Wite's Cross.jpg. The copy called Image:St Wite's Cross.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. Dorset Flag[edit]

Hi There,

Whilst I think it excellent that you updated the Flag of Dorset page, adding it to English and British flags should not have occurred. The Stephen Coombs flag is not official and has no mandate in Dorset. It was a proposed flag, that didn't even get as far as being nominated - due to the apathy of the Dorset people as shown on the FlagForDorset website.

As you didn't mention the commercially available flag (the three lions and the Fleur de lis), I have added this, along with the history of the debate and resized the images. White43 (talk) 17:52, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Flag of Gloucestershire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Orange Mike | Talk 18:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Flag of Gloucestershire[edit]

I have nominated Flag of Gloucestershire, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Flag of Gloucestershire. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Saint Wite's Cross[edit]

Hi, I made an SVG version of the flag you uploaded at Image:Saint Wite's Cross.svg. Could you check it to make sure it's an accurate representation? It seems to me to be a pixel or two off in thickness of the cross. Do you have the exact ratios? Thanks. tiZom(2¢) 22:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Thanks for this. Excuse the ignorance but I am unaware of what sort of an image an SVG is - only being familiar with bitmap, jpg and gif. Could you advise please? There are no exact ratios established at present for the Saint Wite's Cross, that I know of and your image appears to work well. However I suggest you contact http://www.white431.adsl24.co.uk/SaintWite.htm the site promoting the flag who may be able to advise further. Regards.

Vexilo - apologies. You are quite right. Regretfully seasoned editors of Wikipedia become slightly jaded at times and the opportunity for a bit of humour is siezed on - without proper thought. Please don't deel you are being mocked in any way - it's more self mocking than anything else. With regard to the article it fails to of our most exacting criteria - notability and verifability - basically an alternative design for a flag of a county of England that was not accepted is not particularly notable (as opposed to, say, historic designs of the Flag of The Union) and even then we have few reliable sources with which to verify the information being presented. Again, apologies for the puns and sarcasm and please let me extend my welcome to you and see what we can do to help you as a Wikipedian. Pedro :  Chat  14:11, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vexilo, I am sorry that you feel stressed by some of the humour related here. However, the comments were clearly not a personal attack against you or your contribution. Any article that is submitted to AfD is open for dissection, and I can say that many of the comments that are generated in other discussions within this forum can be considered cruel or worse. However, calling people "clowns and jokers" is not exactly a high road comment - please remember that civility is a two-way street. Furthermore, it appears that you have been an editor on Wikipedia since February 2007. I would like to assume that in that period you have been aware of the standards required in putting articles online; your article clearly did not meet these standards, which is why it was nominated for AfD. If you require assistance in further understanding the WP:RS policy, I will be glad to help you there. Ecoleetage (talk) 14:29, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Registered County Flag images[edit]

I see you have added a number of county flag articles. They are very interesting. Images of all the county flags registered by the Flag Institute are found in one category on Wikimedia Commons. They all have the same intuitive file names and are all in .png format (as Wikipedia no longer seems to support .gif files very well).

FlagOfHertfordshire.PNG

So for example Hertfordshire as FlagOfHertfordshire.PNG:

Commons does not yet have the other regional flags registered, unless under other categories I have not found.

Are you sure about the copyright label you put on the Flag of Wiltshire image (Image:Wiltshire flag.jpg)?

Howard Alexander (talk) 13:20, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your message. The Wilts flag was added after consultation with its creator Mike Prior and with his blessing, as he was keen for it to appear in the encyclopaedia. I am no wizard with computer graphics packages so if there are better versions of the flag images they should certainly be used. Incidentally if you are interested in county flags you may like to visit [1]

Flag of the Isle of Wight[edit]

The new Registered flag is on WikiMedia commons at:

I have not added an article on it yet though!

A tag has been placed on File:Gloucestershire banner.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Hi, I see you are an experienced editor with many years of editing behind you. It's therefore somewhat disappointing to see that you are continuing to create articles which are poorly cited or in some cases completely lacking citations. You should not need to be reminded of core policies on verifiability and reliable sources, nor that uncited materials can be removed by anyone at any time, nor indeed that short uncited articles can be merged or deleted. I do hope you will take the time to add suitable sources to all your flag articles. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:21, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
