Why deleted[edit]
Sorry, I have to agree with Zachlipton. The article is only a few hours old, yet it is the number one hit on Google. We can't leave a copyright violation up in this case. Please look into translating the Hebrew wiki article. This is pretty daft. So what it it was #1 on Google? How many people are actually going to search for this name on any given day?! Was I supposed to make the changes while at work?
- No, no one is asking you to edit while at work. However, when you edit, you should ensure that what you add is not in violation of Wikipedia rules, and most particularly, in violation of the law. I recognize that a number of editors think it is OK to copy material under copyright, and then edit it over time to remove the copyright violation. That is not acceptable. If you want to take that approach (and it is not advisable), you should do it outside of Wikipedia, and only post the results when it is compliant. - I'm sorry if this seemed harsh, but please understand the goal here is to protect Wikipedia and its users from legal threats. In the future, if you need a scratch space to work on an article, you can can create a userspace draft and edit at your leisure. Once you have the article ready for more public view, you can follow the instructions there to move your draft into the main article space. Note that copyright infringement is still as much of a problem in userspace as it is anywhere else on Wikipedia, but it's a great way to get a place to start writing or translating a new article.
- In any case, I see you've been working on Hanoch Kalai. It looks lovely. One thing that might help future readers is if you brought over additional footnotes from the Hebrew article or supplied references for other sources you've consulted, as we often try to cite as much as possible in our articles.
