Your GA nomination of Pakistan Idol[edit]

The article Pakistan Idol you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Pakistan Idol for things which need to be addressed. Pakistan Idol GAN[edit]

Thanks for asking me to help out with amending the article to pass the GAN review. In order to ensure that the article passes the review, you need to make sure there are no "duplicate links". Follow instructions here to add the "Highlight duplicate links" widget in your Tools menu on the left sidebar. That should help. Considering this, the link for Mohib Mirza that you just added failed the pass. Thanks for your time. Cheers – Arun Zaheeruddin (talk) 05:04, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Salam, Umais, i think you didn't like my edits on Pakistan Idol, though there were too many mistakes. You want to nominate this article and as per the instruction of GA you remove the things which make it illegible for nomination, so i don't mind for that, but later on please accept my edits if i did so.

...Waar... second thing is that i did research a-lot about the movie, and there wasn't a new source which should i put when i edit. Firstly i haven't watched the movie yet! so i can not claim anything simply, moreover i research on the music so atleast i can give something bout album, but there were different sources not authentic one means not on a authentic music album site(s). I love to edit the article but i couldn't find a genuine source thats why i didn't make edits on article. Sorry for that, if you want any other help about other article just let me know! (talk) 12:17, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please visit talk page of Pakistan Idol article and read the reviews for making article ready for GA nominee. I am not the one who cleaned up the mass other fellows also helped to sought it out. Please have a look at those reviews according to that. Thanks for your cooperation.UBStalk 04:43, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited ARY Films, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ali Rizvi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

AfD[edit]

Just a suggestion, I would advise you not to notify people of the AfD on Off-Road Studios as there are rules on canvassing. Asking people to comment on AfDs could actually cause the opposite effect and could also land you in trouble. Let the people judge the subject independently and accordingly decide the course of the AfD. Regards, Mar4d (talk) 11:22, 11 January 2014 (UTC) Ok as u say, thanks! UBStalk 11:23, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Don't accept unsourced information in the way that you did here; it's not covered by the source, and so therefore you should have rejected the change. Flyer22 (talk) 23:12, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I know but that was mistakenly accepted, I was about to revert. Thanks though! UBStalk 23:16, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • And here: poorly written content, excessive detail. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 04:16, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not accept unsourced changes. I refer to this edit here which you accepted: [1]. The 6th Blockbuster entertainment awards were for films released in 1999. You accepted a film from 2006 being added to the list. Please be more careful in the future. Freikorp (talk) 04:49, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adding tags to new pages[edit]

Hello Umais Bin Sajjad, I'm a fellow new page patroller and I noticed that you recently tagged Tyrie, Aberdeenshire with 3 tags immediately after creation. Whilst page tags are useful for letting other editors know needs to be done to an improve an article it can be very discouraging for a new user to have their new article immediately filled up with problem tags. Fortunately User:Billinghurst is an experienced editor, but next time try taking it a little easier with the tags - why not spend five minutes finding some good references of the internet and improving the page? Cheers, Jr8825Talk 07:55, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think a user should prepare his/her article in sandbox first with alteast ONE reference. I should have added speedy deletion template as the article do not have any reference but I thought of the article creator who is an admin. UBStalk 07:59, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can think that, and with a magic wand the article would have self-compiled, and self-cited, re your comment about speedy, for goodness sake how presumptuous, especially as you will fail. Articles sit in the morass of many wikis, and as part of doing an article at Wikisource, I needed to add detail at Wikidata, and that means getting the article in place at Wikipedia. If you think that I am going to come up with a mass of information about a real place in Scotland, in which a redlink existed, in a moment of time, and a complex article, you have just got to be kidding. Starting with a stub is a long historical means for a place, and it is no worse than a redlink. I will get to it, and you will have to show a little tolerance and not have the expectation that we should edit as you do. FWIW it would be just as easy for you to find the place on an atlas or Google and add a ref, and improve the article than run around with your big can of spray paint. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:11, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just remember that Wikipedia is allowed to be imperfect! CSD should only really be used when an article is blatantly inappropriate for Wikipedia, articles can easily be improved and built upon. In the future bear in mind that all articles have to start somewhere. Jr8825Talk 08:22, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Syriyka[edit]

Although the citations for Syriyka are admittedly rather thin, that is currently the nature of the beast. Flickr had no examples whatsoever, and I suspect that we'll need to rely on Russian sources (including military, haberdashery, and perhaps fashion) to flesh out the citations, so give it time. And given that I bought my Syriyka at a clothing boutique with a BDSM bent, and not at an Army-Navy surplus store, that community probably has something to contribute as well. kencf0618 (talk) 08:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Of course you have all that time to improve article, please try to fix up the mentioned problems. UBStalk 08:27, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

refimprove tag on page Skjoldhøjkilen[edit]

Hello. You left a refimprove tag on page Skjoldhøjkilen. Im the original author.

Actually the external links is also the sources to the article. I have changed the headline. Does this solve "your" problem? If not I need specific details and explanations. And best of all: correct the problem yourself. RhinoMind (talk) 11:51, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article lacks references, only one reference is not enough to show article notability. Please add further references UBStalk 12:18, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Only one reference is not enough to show article notability - you shouldn't be judging how notable a subject is by its Wikipedia article and neither should you expect a Wikipedia article that has just been created to already be of a sufficient quality to demonstrate its notability. Do a quick Google search! Jr8825Talk 12:36, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is July 2013 article, what does "just been created" mean here? And notability on Wikipedia english is not related with google search. UBStalk 12:42, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise, I thought you had tagged up the article whilst patrolling the most recently created pages. I wasn't saying that Google is a brilliant way of determining notability for Wikipedia, but it's better than nothing and gives a good impression of how much coverage a topic has had on the internet - the only better way to determine notability would probably be going to the library. I'm not trying to tell you off - I just wanted to say that in my opinion it's better to spend longer on articles fixing problems instead of just tagging them - who else is going to make the changes? Jr8825Talk 12:58, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well I think article creator should be responsible for basic elements, to take it to a standard so that other users take interest in that article. UBStalk 13:02, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I know the Wikimedia growth team has plans to improve the article creator, but until then it's largely up to us new page patrollers to clean-up new articles to a fairly acceptable standard. Jr8825Talk 13:24, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. Maybe I can squeeze in a few lines :-) Actually the page is using a total of three independent sources. One for a particular in-line ref and two as major sources to the entire page. I can add more, but many other sources are superficial and just cites these three originals. What do you think? RhinoMind (talk) 13:16, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My suggestion is that to move sources section into references and shape them to ciatation, after that just remove the issue tag cheers! UBStalk 16:39, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have unreviewed a page you curated[edit]

Thanks for reviewing CMDportal, Umais Bin Sajjad.

Unfortunately Alanl has just gone over this page again and unreviewed it. Their note is:

The username who created this article strongly suggests a CoI problem.

Tag bombing[edit]

I am really really unsure why you added both unreferenced and refimprove tag to Alexander Mikhailovsky-Danilevsky. How can an article be simultaneously unreferenced and in the need of improving references? If an article is unsourced then tag it as unreferenced, not both. In this case the one ref provided is a solid academic one and it verifies all of the content of the article, so it is fine. Can you self-revert? Solomon7968 14:39, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Human error, I would say UBStalk 03:23, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this, but the one ref does indeed verifies all of the content. Anyways, please be more cautious while tagging in future. Solomon7968 07:52, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need Help in WP:PBUH[edit]

Hi bro,

I need your help removing terrorism section from WP:PBUH.

I removed it citing reason why it should be removed but CambridgeBayWeather put it back in.

If you can please go to that page and remove that section by reverting the change done by CambridgeBayWeather.

It will establish a consensus that more than one person think that it should be removed.

I also tried to talk it out with CambridgeBayWeather on his talk page and you can see my post there as well.

Help me brother. Sajjad Altaf (talk) 02:06, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please tag the exact page here you are talking about UBStalk 03:26, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging of articles[edit]

Hello, I would suggest cooling it on the tagging of articles, as a lot of these are mistagged. You keep tagging surname pages that I have created as orphans and unreferenced, but surname pages do not need any references, and I'm not sure that the orphan tag applies either as once again they are surname pages. Thanks.Hoops gza (talk) 17:43, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'll keep in mind next time, thanks for informing. UBStalk 04:24, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't use the WP:CSD#G1 tag on articles when, as with this one, they clearly don't meet the criteria. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:37, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Its coming out on February 7, in the United States and February 14, in the United Kingdom so this poster can't be a UK poster. Koala15 (talk) 20:22, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's much difference between 56kb resolution and 148kb. Learn the difference first. UBStalk 20:53, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikilinking[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

This even applies for infoboxes.

Thanks and my best wishes.

Bashar Momin[edit]

Salam, Umais Sorry if you are offended, i haven't removed anything from Basahr momin. The paragraphy about the first episode of show, which you headed as Plot i replaced it on List of Bashar Momin episodes by giving heading of Synonpsis. Already as i gave the Plot of serial on the page, there is no need of any other story line. I hope my explaination is helpful. Use of primary sources SCORE (Geo TV)[edit]

Hi, I notice that you removed my tag from SCORE (Geo TV) on the grounds that there are sufficient secondary sources. As far as I can see, the only references used are other sites containing videos from Score and, in my opinion, these still qualify as primary sources. I was wondering what your justification was for treating them as secondary sources?--Hazel77 talk 10:15, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with you but I thought these references are well enough to prove that this program do exists. As far as secondary is concerned videos references can also be accepted. Don't you think? UBStalk 21:19, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely agree that the references prove that the program exists. I also agree that it is possible for videos to be secondary sources. However, these particular videos are simply repostings of videos from the original program and my reading of WP:PSTS is that a secondary source is one that writes about the topic rather than just being repostings of the primary source.--Hazel77 talk 21:39, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Mirza Ghalib (Pakistani TV series)[edit]

Hello, Umais Bin Sajjad,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Mirza Ghalib (Pakistani TV series) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mirza Ghalib (Pakistani TV series) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Replaceable fair use File:Zamad Baig in Pakistan Idol.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Zamad Baig in Pakistan Idol.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 21:46, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

Hi. I granted your request for rollbacker privileges. Please note: "Standard rollback is a fast way of undoing problematic edits, but it has the disadvantage that only a generic edit summary is generated, with no explanation of the reason for the change. For this reason, it is considered inappropriate to use it in situations where an explanatory edit summary would normally be expected. Rollback may be used:

  • To revert obvious vandalism and other edits where the reason for reverting is absolutely clear
  • To revert edits in your own user space
  • To revert edits that you have made (for example, edits that you accidentally made)
  • To revert edits by banned users who are not allowed to edit (but be prepared to explain this use of rollback when asked to)
  • To revert widespread edits (by a misguided editor or malfunctioning bot) which are judged to be unhelpful to the encyclopedia, provided that an explanation is supplied in an appropriate location, such as at the relevant talk page[1]

Use of standard rollback for any other purposes – such as reverting good-faith changes which you happen to disagree with – is likely to be considered misuse of the tool. When in doubt, use another method of reversion and supply an edit summary to explain your reasoning.

The above restrictions apply to standard rollback, using the generic edit summary. If a tool or manual method is used to add an appropriate explanatory edit summary (as described in the Additional tools section below), then rollback may be freely used as with any other method of reverting.

As with other methods of reverting, when using rollback to restore text to a page, ensure that the text restored does not violate Wikipedia policies." Go Phightins! 22:29, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Expendables 3 poster.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Expendables 3 poster.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Replaceable fair use File:Hamza Ali Abbasi in 2012.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hamza Ali Abbasi in 2012.jpg.

Replaceable fair use File:Danish Taimoor.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Danish Taimoor.jpg.

Fair use and BLPs[edit]

Thank you for all of your hard work on Pakistani actor articles. Please note however that you cannot upload copyrighted images of living persons and claim them under fair use as you have been doing. Wikipedia's policies regarding the use of non-free images in articles is extremely limited, and you cannot claim fair-use when there is a reasonable expectation that a free image could be found, as is almost always the case with living persons. I've deleted the recent batch that you uploaded from various actors' Facebook pages; please don't upload any more. Thank you, --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 18:48, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

You somehow managed to nominate the Dhoom 4 redirect for discussion on tomorrow's log page (19 September). As Wikipedia is based on UTC, I've moved it to today's page, so your nomination can now be found at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 September 18#Dhoom 4. Repost of Ayeza Khan[edit]

Information icon A tag has been placed on Ayeza Khan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. BLPs and sources[edit]

Please rememer that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for posting rumours and gossip. Material that is added to biography articles must be reliably sourced, neutral, pertinent, and notable. If you intend to continue editing biographies it is imperative that your read through the relevant policy. In addition, only the highest quality sources should be included.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:21, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Asad Zaman, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
