[edit]

I like your userbox, but unfortunately you picked a copyrighted logo to go in it. Copyrighted logos cannot be used in userboxes. Under copyright law logos can only be used in "far use" situations and userboxes do not qualify as "fair use". I have replaced the image with a vio logo, but feel free to replace it with a free logo or with lettering instead. - Ahunt (talk) 20:57, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for repeating this error; I should have read the talk page before jumping in. I have created a mild imitation of the logo using CSS. - Frankie (talk) 17:14, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No sweat, your fix should do the trick! - Ahunt (talk) 17:22, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A small CSS question for the community: how might I decrease the amount of empty space above and below the big "B"? Applying negative padding or margins doesn't do the trick. - Frankie1969 (talk) 15:46, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrote[edit]

I would have liked using the logo, but I just rewrote it with text. It was my first attempt at a userbox. Anymore I do will be better I hope.GcSwRhIc (talk) 12:00, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - the revised one looks fine! Making userboxes is a bit of an artform, mostly to avoid some of the pitfalls, like copyrighted logos. Perhaps if you have the time and inclination you can make up a logo that is similar, but not the same as the BBEdit logo, like the this one on the right. It is "like" a Microsoft Internet Explorer logo, but isn't quite the same and is a free image. This particular one is used in several IE userboxes and looks nice! You may also want to read through the page at Wikipedia:Userboxes. There is lots of good info there on making userboxes! Happy userboxing! - Ahunt (talk) 12:16, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
