Needing help!

Please could somebody help me - I need to put the three boxes on my user page in a line, in stead of on top of each other. Can someone help? Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 20:46, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Also, can someone make it so the "Archives" box on this page doesn't clash with any messages I get? Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 20:47, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I done your user page for you, I dunno if this is what you wanted on your talk page though... J Ditalk 20:54, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Oooh it looks cool. Good job J Di! P.S. Trampikey, I like your awards page :) -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:56, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I kinda wanted it so that the messages started underneath the archive box, leaving a blank rectangle between the "Leave a message" box, the archive bo, and the top of the messages... can anyone do that? Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 20:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Like that? J Ditalk 21:00, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks a lot! Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 21:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
No worries. You might want to put that stuff up there on a subpage and transclude it, so there's less stuff... J Ditalk 21:03, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Private information

Please don't disclose private information of other contributors without their permission, this goes against some Wikipedia policy somewhere that I can't find right now... Maybe it doesn't exist and I'm making it up..? Meh, I'll find it... J Ditalk 21:12, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, if I wanted my name displayed, I'd display it! :-P Thanks for the belated birthday cake. It was delicious :) -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:17, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:SaraCogan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SaraCogan.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 17:06, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Ok

Ok, well you can leave it as it is if you want ("Suicide - Heroin"). I won't touch it again. What I meant by "Shouldn't have done" is that he had know reason to overdose. He thought another character was dead and that's why he did it. but She wasn't dead - so he shouldn't have done it.

Regarding EE articles

In all fairness, I didn't leave my new articles completely blank. I added all relevant, albeit brief data. I gave some character backgrounds instead of the generic lead-in sentence and little or no information. I'm aware of the High Standards over the EastEnders pages as opposed to the other soap operas. I thought brevity would be better than No Information at all. Conquistador2k6 20:04 10 October 2006

Re:Lofty

ok here's a little bit about why he was invented.

H and S both felt that to complete the community there was a need for a male character in his early 20s. Not brash, confident, like the older men or boisterous like the younger ones. A loner, someone who stuck out like a sore thumb, someone that was happiest in a group but still couldnt find one that he fit in with. Tony Holland had previosuly been in the army and found that ex-soldiers had that problem when they tried to reintegrate as civilians. So they decided that Lofty would be an ex-soldier, forced to quit because of his asthma. he was happiest in the army and devastated that he was made to quit.

Hope this is of help Gungadin 21:08, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:

Hey I looked it up it's Victoria Woodward Gungadin 15:40, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

I looked at the credits. The episode is on my pvr, but I havent watched it yet. There's no Kate credited in that episode. Someone called Cahil though played by John Ashton. Which episode did Kate appear? Gungadin 15:46, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Dot Cotton image.

Hey, I have taken a clearer and larger capture of Dot for the infobox. Would you mind if I change the current image by uploading this new version over the one that you uploaded. Or would you prefer to keep that one for somewhere else in the article? Gungadin 21:01, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Re the minor images. That's cool. I'll try and take them as often as I can from now on. I've got Johnny's cell mate if that's a help. And also Chrissie Watt's lawyer, but cant remember her name. Has she got her own article? Gungadin 21:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I meant Chrissie's lawyer friend who forged Den's signature on the lease for the Vic. God knows what she's called though.
Only recent episodes really, as I just discovered I can transfer episodes from my PVR to my PC in order to take the captures. I have some newish episodes on my pvr hard-drive that I havent been arsed to delete yet, so if you want characters from september or october I can help with those. If you can remember the exact date a character appeared that would help too. I also have some random images of minor old characters. I have Sonia's boyfriend Enrique, the woman who kidnapped Vicki called Audrey, and Kat's original boyfriend, who showed up at the Slaters on the first night drunk. But they will never likely get articles anyway, lol.Gungadin 21:20, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

here's the priest, but couldn't find his article (Priest) Gungadin 23:43, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I havent had a look for those ones yet. but should hopefully get a chance to do it later tonight when I get in. Getting a shot of Petal is quite difficult, cos she's always snuggling into the people who hold her. she's so cute though. Gungadin 16:00, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
thanks, I'll have a look at that episode tonight if I have it and see if I can get a decent one. Gungadin 16:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I dont have the ireland episodes i'm afraid, and don't know how you can get hold of them either. I'll keep a look out. Was it facts you wanted or images from the episodes? Because if it's fact you could try the episode descriptions from walford.net. Well done on getting those images of Kenny, Rezaul etc. How did you manage to find those? Gungadin 14:15, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Emmerdale Kayleigh Crowe/Gibbs

I noticed that you reverted my edits from Kayleigh Gibbs back to Kayleigh Crowe. An Emmerdale episode dated to 25th October (Thursday) credited her as "Gibbs", and hence that is the most RECENT official surname credit i have come across. Also, checking IMDB backs this up. I'll await your response before making any further edits. Bungle44 22:37, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: It seems as if there isn't a very reliable source anywhere then regarding what the official name is. All i am saying is the last official source said Gibbs, though I suppose it isn't worth reverting the edits unless that is officially confirmed elsewhere. Bungle44 22:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

i was just wondering why you are replacing the “proper quotes” with "dumb quotes" in List of gay and bisexual people in film, radio, and TV fiction? --emerson7 12:07, 6 November 2006 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Emerson7 (talkcontribs)

just wondering whether i was gonna' get an answer. i see that i may have forgotten to sign my last message, so that may be the answer i was to why i haven't heard from you. having said that, i'd still like to know your reasoning for replacing the “proper quotes,” and also why you are completely changing the format leaving out the description of the character listed. some of these characters are rather obscure, and i feel more information is always better than less. i think this perhaps should be put up for discussion before continuing to deleting what's otherwise pretty useful data. --emerson7 07:05, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:SaraCogan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SaraCogan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 19:45, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I can get AWB to automatically remove italics from the family secion, I worked it out! :) — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:48, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

List of EastEnders television spin-offs.

Hi, I just wondered that to expand List of EastEnders spin-offs would it be good to add two more spin-offs to the list which are EastEnders The Mitchells Naked Truths and Slaters in Detention as I think they can fall into the category of a spin-off too. Get back to me if they could or could not be included.Shakirfan 21:30, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Ayse Osman

Just to let u know that I have seen the episode with her in and she is Ali's sister Gungadin 22:40, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

No worries, just noticed the convo so thought should let u know. I think it's pronounced I-ZE Gungadin 22:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Re: Brad

I think you read that on Walford web, who have got it completely wrong somehow. Brad was in the firm, cindy never lived with him. He even tried it on with her at one time in 88 when Cindy worked in strokes. None of Cindy's family were seen on-screen until the late 90s. She originally ran her mothers hat stall, but the mother didnt appear in the 80s and Cindy's home wasn't seen until she moved in with Ian at Walford towers Gungadin 15:51, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Sharon's real father

Is Sharon's real father Ron Hanley? or is he just the man that her mother had married when they met? Nothing I can find states that Ron is actually her father, but just Carol's husband who made Sharon unwelcome. Sharon only tried to build a relationship with her mother, and not Ron. If this is true then Sharon's name is not Hanley, but Stretton as this was who Sharon tracked down initially. Carol Ann Stretton. Do you know anything about this? Pauline Fowler

Hi ive done the extension of the pauline article. Feel free to edit it or include bts if you want User:Gungadin/sandbox. Also do you think the stuff Ive done should be added to the main article, obviously leaving out the bits about her death, or should it just be left as it is until she actually dies? Further to our MSN conversation... by my calculations, Jay Brown could be any age from 2 years to 38 years old :) — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:39, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't think he could be 38 years old, as Karen would be 39 years old now, and unless she managed to reproduce aged one, I don't think it's possible he could be 38... Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 15:28, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for Motivation

Seriously. After seing your organisational skills with the EE articles and noticing you're on a mission w/ the whole Emmerdale overhaul, You've motivated me to clean up a few character articles (family details mainly) on Coronation Street and Emmerdale respectively by cleaning up all the crap, removing stepfamily/in-laws and unitalicising the relatives in question. I'm going to extend this to my Brookside and Family Affairs articles, lord knows they need it. Thanks again for pointing this fellow wikipedian in the right direction!

Kathy Hill's first rapist

Hey, do you have any knowledge about this because ive noticed in the Kathy Hills article that it says that Marcus Duffy - her music teacher - was her first rapist. However I recently saw an episode where Kathy was applying to be a samaritan. They made her discuss her first rape. She said that she didnt know the rapist. Do you know where someone might have got this info from? (the music teacher bit, not the name)Gungadin 19:53, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

In response to your message, I'm leaving My H&A and Neighbours works as they are for the time being. I don't really see anything wrong with the family layouts. The tree method really works with them to differentiate them from the others. 29 December 2006 23:55 (UTC)Conquistador2k6

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Peggy mitchell ee 5.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Peggy mitchell ee 5.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MECUtalk 00:44, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
